Winter Photo Dump

A few more winters to wrap up winter for 2021:

He's starting early with the selfies. With lips like his, who could blame him! :)

He has shown an increased interest in Owen lately. Owen is such a good sport. You can tell the feeling is not mutual but he lets him do whatever he wants. So sweet.

Jack continues to be slightly farsighted so we are doing bi-annual checks. We checked on them in February and things were about the same. We're glad they haven't worsened but we will continue to monitor to see if he will need glasses in the future.

John boy had his six month check-up in February as well. A snow February day!

He was 17 1/2 pounds and 27". He was perfect which we already knew! He's chewing on his corn teething toy and that is his favorite thing right now.

We started cereal and baby food. The messier the better for this boy!

We had one big snow in February this year and got to pull out the Carhartt to use

Our snow baby. His Carhartt bibs were a gift to Jack from Ma and Pa. I love both boys have been able to wear them!

He weighed a few extra pounds in them but sis could handle it

Three snow babies

Warm and snug in his bibs and off to sleep he went

Lips of an angel

Baby yawns are the cutest thing ever

We built a fire that evening and enjoyed the snow and the end of winter

This poor third child doesn't get monthly update posts. We are even missing a few month pictures. Thankfully, he doesn't care and mama has chilled in her age and just roll with the punches these days :) We still love you just the same, John boy!

This is my favorite outfit I have for my boys. They both wore it and it will be an outfit I keep forever.

It's all about the angles, mom :)

Teething toys are cuter than they use to be!

The big kids were still on virtual school during Valentine's Day so they were able to spend the day at AKK attending (and helping) with the party! They were both so excited. The little girls look up to Georgia so much.

One of my last pictures with papaw. February and March were hard months as a lot of our time and energy went to him. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Georgia's artwork for the KDA art contest. She did an incredible job!

Date night for Daddy and Georgia. This is the way to her heart.

Brotherly bathtime

Love him so

Handsome guy sporting his goldendoodle bib

So happy 95% of the time!

Jack loves his mimi and Mikayla made us a large one for Christmas. He loves curling up in it!

He despises bath time but loves the rub down afterward.

Newborn-six months. The passing of time is such a crazy thing. I am SO blessed to experience motherhood for a third time.

Papaw

Mamaw and papaw were diagnosed with covid on February 1st after feeling bad for several days. They tried to recover from the virus at home but by February 7th they were both in need of hospitalization. The doctors felt like mamaw was going to be ok but they said papaw was very sick. This was the beginning of a 6 1/2 week journey that we were not prepared for.

On March 17th with all of his family at his bedside, papaw was peacefully called home.

We always want more time, especially since papaw never felt old to me. It could be because he was still snorkeling at the ocean in his 80’s :)

Summers working the garden, phone calls and voicemails that ended with “love you babe”, and Wednesday night beans and cornbread are gone but I’ll have the memories forever.

58 years of marriage and a beautiful legacy they will leave behind.

I’m blessed I was able to spend 33 years of my life with him on earth and now I’ll have eternity with him in heaven.

Everybody loved papaw and he genuinely loved them back.

He was still hunting, fishing, chopping wood and working cattle until the end. There’s no doubt he had a life well lived.

I love this picture of Jack and papaw at the catfish festival waiting to hear how much his tagged fish was worth.

I love this picture of papaw and Paige too

We all think he favored Elvis in his glory days

Dad and papaw, 1965

Their last trip to the beach, 2016

He chopped down some dead trees in our yard and stacked all of this wood for us. He could outwork and young man!

He was so happy for us when we bought our jeep

Five generations- my great great grandfather Garrett Wayne Burden, great grandmother Eva Burden Embry, papaw Ernie, dad and me (1987)

Last spring, John boy was on the way

His last strawberry season, I’m so glad I took this picture.

Our last time fishing with him. Another moment I’m glad I captured!

He loved being outside and enjoying nature.

Halloween 2019

Dad and papas the year dad caught a tagged fish

He did it all!

It was a great honor of my life to sit with him and be by his side in his final weeks. His life was of quality and quantity, and a great reminder the simple life which you work hard for is the best life. Until we see each other again, papaw-I love you.
