Bible Study and Our Little Sleeper

Back in October we began attending a weekly bible study that our friend Nathan started. Each week a different couple hosts and it was our week to have everyone over. I took a brief hiatus when Georgia was first born but I'm back participating and hosting! It is such an enjoyable time of fellowship and spiritual growth that has been greatly beneficial to both of us.

I made a Mexican casserole that was a recipe from my mother-in-law. It was a big hit! I am no Betty Crocker so it was nice to have some success in the kitchen ha! All I have is a post-meal picture which I'm fine with because it's proof people ate my food!
This was Georgia's first bible study! She was such a good girl. Aunt Rachel held her most of the time which she loved.
This week in Bible Study we discussed David Platt's Radical Question. Talk about intense! This goes way beyond our "Bible School Jesus" and calls out all of us Christians on many societal issues. It drives home the point that we are ALL called to missions, we are all disciples of Christ. This lesson wasn't your warm feel good study but I am so glad Nathan presented it to us. It was definitely something I needed to hear.
Big news to report-last night this girl slept through the night!!! She is 6 weeks and 3 days old and slept from 12-7. She woke up hungry as a bear ha! I am so proud of her. She may not do it again for weeks but the fact that we've achieved it is wonderful! A rested mommy is a happy mommy!

We have a big weekend planned-my baby sister's college graduation (what?) and our church's Christmas Cantata. Happy Friday y'all!

Christmas Odds and Ends

With a new addition to our family this Christmas we have modified and enhanced our Christmas decor.

Everyone got new stockings this year! I still have to pinch myself sometimes when I read "Mom" on my stocking. I love it! We decided on a LL Bean needlepoint stocking for Georgia. I wanted a stocking that we could match to other stockings if/when we have more children. And yes Owen has a stocking too and Santa visits him just like he visits all of us :)

My sweet friend Charlotte sent this ornament for Georgia Grace! It is so cute! I am so thankful for friends that love our daughter so much.

And the Givens family gave us this Hallmark Baby's 1st Christmas ornament! I love it so much.

One of my favorite things about this time of the year is checking the mailbox everyday for Christmas cards! We have started a fine collection so far. There's still something special about good 'ol snail mail!

Georgia and I have developed enough of a schedule now that I can work on things while she is napping so I started back sewing/embroidering. I made some embroidered hooded towels for some of our baby cousins. I hope they enjoy them!

A Harrison Christmas

Saturday we celebrated Christmas with the Harrison side of the family at one of our favorite places, Federal Grove. It was decorated so beautifully and was the perfect place to have a family Christmas gathering. It's so hard getting everyone together at the same time with conflicting work schedules and obligations so it was nice having it at a time that was more convenient for everyone.

Georgia Grace sure loves her grandpa. He held her so the rest of us could eat. If you knew how good the food was at this place you would understand the significance of this!!

Our Christmas blessing.
Georgia with her great-grandmother Harrison AKA Meme. She is the first great grandchild for Meme and I know she is very proud of her. She was telling us how much she loved our Christmas card and she told us she was showing it to her hearing aid doctor ha!
When meme was holding her Georgia let out a loud squeal so she put her up on her shoulder. Somehow Georgia ended up covering her mouth with her hand ha! We were cracking up.
The decorations were spectacular. This is definitely the place to go if you are needing help getting in the Christmas spirit.

I couldn't pass on a family picture in front of the pretty mantle!

Sunday afternoon to cap off a Harrison Christmas weekend we went to visit our aunt Georgia "Nell" Harrison. She was so happy to see us and hold Georgia Grace. Our daughter is sharing her name with a wonderful woman that means a lot to us!

It was a busy weekend but a memorable one spent with family. I'm off to wrap a few gifts and laundry duty until GGH decides nap time is over! :)

Under The Weather and Six Generations

Unfortunately I've been sick the past few days. My ultimate goal of course was to not give it to Georgia. Since I am breastfeeding I knew I was limited on what I could take so I've stuck to a little Tylenol, salt water gargles and hot lemonade with honey. I am feeling better today so I am hoping I knocked it. She seems normal and I pray that continues! Being sick and being a mommy is no fun. Thankfully I've got a wonderful husband and family that picks up the slack when I'm down and out.
The other night when we were visiting grandmomma and granddad they decided to get out an old cradle that is a family heirloom and let Georgia lay in it. This cradle was made by Georgia's great-great-great-great grandfather making her the 6th generation to use it.
I know it meant a lot to granddad for her to be able to use it.
It was made so that there is an opening on one end so the heat of the fireplace could keep the baby warm. There is a picture of Marcus in the cradle and we are trying to locate it.

Tonight is the Harrison Christmas get-together! We are looking forward to starting our many family celebrations!

Newborn Portraits

When Georgia was 10 days old, we took her to Mrs. Julia to have her newborn pictures taken. They are all finished and we love them so much!

Our little dollbaby! So many people have told us she doesn't look like a newborn and I kind of agree. She has been so alert and mature since day one.
The bigger the bow the better the mom, right? :)
I see my sister Paige in this one so much. Georgia always has her hands up around her face like that!
This is probably my favorite. Our little princess! Jules added her stats to it for me and I just love it.
This one is so sweet. She looks like such a big girl!
Baby's first Christmas. The best present I've ever received!
Rolls for days! :)

We used some of her newborn portraits for our Christmas card/birth announcement this year. They came in this week so I am in the process of getting them addressed and to the post office. I will post it once I have them mailed. We decided to combine our Christmas card and her birth announcement since we would be sending them both at about the exact same time. I just LOVE them.
Thank you Jules for another amazing job!

Christmas Parade and First Stroller Ride

Saturday we started a new holiday tradition. We took Georgia Grace to her first parade! Every year our town holds a Christmas parade the first Saturday in December. Marcus and I have probably never missed our town's Christmas parade and we were so glad the weather was nice so we could take our baby girl.
We always watch the parade at my dad's office which is in walking distance of our house. The weather was so nice we just bundled her up and walked to watch.
The parade was so good this year! It was probably the biggest parade I've ever seen. GGH slept through it all-even all the sirens and horns. She is a hardcore sleeper!
Some of the scenes from the parade. The bottom left picture is of my great uncle Rollie "Bubby" Porter. He was named Veteran of the Year. We are so proud of him and his service to his country!
I've always said I enjoy living where we have seasonal weather but that was pre-baby ha! Today, December 3rd, it was 70 degrees here in southcentral Kentucky!  It was so nice to not have to bundle up like an Eskimo to step outside. After school, Marcus set up our stroller (that was still in the box) and we took off on a walk! *Please ignore my thrown-together outfit and lack of makeup :)
She slept the whole time so I assume she loved every minute of it. Sweet girl is going to sleep her life away ha! We covered her ears, put a blanket around her and off we went. The rest of the week is looking to be unseasonably warm so we may have to make this an afternoon ritual.

Tonight National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is on ABC Family so I know what our night will consist of. Mele Kalikimaka!

Our First Month

Bath Time
She has actually started enjoying bath time in the past few days. In the beginning we all dreaded bath time ha! Yesterday when I gave her a bath she put her legs over the side of the infant sling and just kicked back-so funny!
Sleep
She is sleeping at night in her pack n' play bassinet beside our bed. She is sleeping so well! I don't think it will be too long before she's sleeping through the night, we are so close!

And she likes to nap in her papoose or on one of us :), especially her daddy.

Tummy Time
She enjoys tummy time. She falls asleep sometimes but she is still getting the benefits.

Travel
We haven't made too many trips yet but the ones that we have she has done really well. If she's not already out the car ride usually lulls her to sleep.
And she really enjoys her changing table! She will lay and just kick and play for a long time. Makes changing diapers a lot easier.
It has been such a fun first month. I'm looking forward to December, the holidays, and watching her grow!
