Jack is ONE month old!

And just like that he's one month new. Time, you are no mother's friend. It was a fast first month but such a rewarding one.

Jack-you are one month old today!
  • You were 10 pounds 2 ounces at your 3 week checkup so I'm guessing you to weigh between 10 1/2-11 pounds now. You are wearing size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothing. Right now you are in the 75th percentile for weight and 70th percentile for length.
  • You eat every 2 1/2-3 hours during the day and 3-4 hours at night (we have had one 5 hour stretch!). You nurse exclusively but we did offer you a breastmilk bottle this weekend and you accepted it no problem!
  • Your hair is blonde (and you have lots!), your eyes are still blue and you have a dimple on your left cheek just like your mommy and sister :) You also have a good complexion with nice, tan skin! (Never had jaundice)
  • You like to eat, sleep, swing, ride in your carseat and look at lights and ceiling fans.
  • You don't like baths, being hungry and poopy diaper changes.
  • Laying on your mommy's chest is your favorite place to nap. You lay in your cradle swing to sleep through the night.
  • So far you are a very happy and easy baby. You smile often when your belly is full and laugh out loud sometimes. You are so easy to take places because you typically sleep in your carseat the whole time.

This was how you felt about your mommy putting you in a bow :) You much preferred being naked instead!
A side by side comparison of both my babies on their one month birthdays. I see similarities but I think they have their own looks too. I think it's the same nose and maybe eyes.

Happy 1 month baby boy! Mommy and Daddy love you so much and we can't imagine life without you in it.

Mother's Day 2015

Sunday was not only Mother's Day for me but Jack's dedication at church so the day was an extra special one. I've been so excited for our church family to meet him and he was such a good baby the whole time. He was awake half the time and just as content as he could be. Most of the time when he's awake he only wants to eat but he's starting to stay awake longer and didn't have to nurse until after the church service. I was pleased!

Before we left for church we took a few pictures on our porch. This little spot has become our picture taking place. I love my sweet babies in their white Sunday best!

My first Mother's Day as a boy mom. I am not naïve to realize how blessed I am to experience being a mom to a daughter and son.

My three Mother's Days. Each year it just gets better and better.

We know the best gift we can give our children as parents is our commitment to Christ and to each other. We are surrounded by a body of believers who pray for us and encourage us. I'm thankful for our church where we can bring our children to be fed the gospel.

My Mom, Stan and Mamaw came to our church for the dedication along with my Dad's family who also attend our church. My mom has made motherhood so much better and easier having her by my side. She helps me through the hard days and celebrates with me on the great days. Thank you mom!

We ended the day (after naptime!) with a little trip to shop for patio furniture. This was my idea because Marcus and I never make time to shop together and we are eager to start entertaining outside. We didn't have any luck but we did get some ideas and bought night stands so it was a successful trip. Both kids did great. Jack slept peacefully in his carseat and Georgia rode happily in the cart. We have great kids.

This little one is as headstrong as they come but she can melt your heart in an instant. She probably told me Happy Mother's Day fifteen times and said it with such excitement each time as if it was the first time she had said it. Even though she's two and we have our daily battles we know those things are just a phase and she will eventually brush her teeth without protest and take medicine without gagging. The days are long but the years are short.

Being a mom is the best job.

Georgia and Jack

Our babies are two and a half years apart and we knew there closeness in age would be fun and challenging all at the same time. We tried our best to prepare for life with a newborn and a two year old by making sure Georgia was potty trained, sleeping in her own crib, making her feel special and important, etc. Despite all the preparation on our part, I still feared it might be hard for Georgia to relinquish some of the attention but to our continued surprise it has went very smooth. I couldn't have asked for an easier transition for our family. Such an answer to prayer!

The new sibling relationship began the day Jack was born. When I was ready for visitors, Marcus went to get Georgia from our family that had her in the waiting room so that she could be the very first person to meet him. As soon as she heard the lullaby, she was ready to come see us so we tried to not make her wait too long.

As soon as she spotted him, she started waving. I knew at that point this meeting was going to be special and filled with love.

She was so curious about everything. She asked a lot of questions and tried to take it all in. Jack had been crying before she came in and when she entered the room he was quiet and content the whole time. It was pretty amazing.

They allowed five visitors at a time to come back and meet Jack and she made every trip to show off her new brother. You could tell she was so proud of him.

And this picture is one I know when I pull out in years to come it will bring on the mommy tears and make me long for the day that my children were this size. This was after we were in our room and she was getting a better look at him. She said "Hi Jack, I'm Georgia Grace, your big sister". I don't know if there's a sweeter love than the love between siblings.

She held him for the first time the day after he was born. She thought she was big stuff and wanted to impress everybody. He was just as content as he could be with her.

When we got home the holding continued :) She has been good about just holding him occasionally and not for very long. I was worried she would want to be all over him 24/7 but that hasn't been the case.

Just an outtake from our matching bunny gown photo-op. She was trying to move his head the way she wanted it ha!

The day we had our pictures made I feared the jealous bone would prevail but she didn't shown any signs of jealousy whatsoever. When we were taking pictures of just Jack she was happy to play on her own and never once tried to steal the show. What an awesome big sister!

Matching big sister/little brother tops <3

And a sibling picture I will hang on our wall and cherish forever. So much love in one picture.

Our two biggest blessings

We have been blessed with family that have been available to come by and play with Georgia or take her out to eat or watch her for a while so we can spend time with just Jack and so she gets extra attention. That has made a big difference in making our transition go so well and I'm so thankful for those small things that are really big things in my book.

I'm sure not everyday will be easy and I'm sure once he's big enough to play and get in her stuff it won't always be happy times but we'll fight those battles as they come. For now I'm just thankful for my girl and my boy and the love they have for each other.

Jack's Biggest Fans

In typical second child fashion, we weren't diligent about getting pictures of Jack with family and friends but most took it upon themselves to do that and sent them to me so I would have a copy. Thanks y'all! I want them in our blog book so this post is devoted to the man of the hour and the ones that love him most! And anyone we don't have pictures with yet I hope to in the coming weeks.

Weekly pictures

Finding time to blog is hard to come by right now so this is basically just pictures and social media captions. Everyone but Jack is either battling a head cold and/or allergies so it's not been the most fun week at the Harrison camp. I'm hoping relief is in the near future!

Last week I let him play in his crib with a toy that Georgia picked out for him and he had a big time watching and listening to it. I was surprised that at two weeks he was already so alert and reaching out to touch the toy.

A typical morning for us. And we're already outgrowing our newborn clothes ;( It was a short and sweet two weeks.

Yay for a clean diaper and making it a full day without an outfit change! Then it was bedtime for my little duck.

Two and brand new.
There is a lot of love in this picture. And she may be the older sister but I believe he will be the "big brother" :)

I started pumping between nursing sessions in preparation for introducing breastmilk bottles in the future and it's safe to say I have a pretty solid supply. However, I probably have a case of oversupply because I feel like I started flooding him. We made a few tweaks and I've cut back on pumping for now and things are better. Nursing is a tricky game!

Last Friday while Daddy was at work and Georgia was at preschool, brother and I headed out for some appointments and to run some errands. It's rare that I'm dressed and have makeup on these days so I thought I better document it. This boy loves his carseat and riding in a vehicle so it was a fun, easy outing.

One of my appointments was at the venue for our ten year class reunion that's coming up in July. It will be at Indian Hills Country Club and I was so impressed with everything. I'm excited to see classmates I haven't seen in a long time in just a few short months. And I won't even talk about how absurd it seems that it's been ten years since I graduated high school! It feels like yesterday.

Thursday Georgia turned 2 1/2 and Daddy took her on a daddy-daughter date to celebrate. I think they both had a blast!

If I couldn't be at Derby this weekend this was the next best thing. Picnic with my babes at our old Kentucky home. Marcus has already promised me tickets to Derby next year for my birthday and I'm way more excited than I should be for something that's a year away :) Definitely something on my bucket list.

And just when I felt good about being one pound shy of my pre-pregnancy birth weight, Princess Kate brings me back down to reality :) She looks incredible and Princess Charlotte is just perfect. And of course I love all the namesakes she was given. I'm totally starstruck by them.

Our newborn pictures were delivered this week so I will try to post them this week plus the post of Georgia meeting Jack. Hopefully I will be caught up soon!
