John is FIVE months old!

John-you are five months old! And growing up so much everyday.
Here are the highlights of your fifth month:
  • You are in size 2 diapers and 6 month clothing (some 6-9 months). You are a chunky butt but proportional and perfect. You go no where so you don’t need  shoes and I’m not even sure what size you are ha!
  • You love your people. And preferably you want to be held by your people, especially mommy. You follow me with your eyes if I leave the room and get so excited when I come to get you . You are a serious cuddle bug and are held for almost all your naps!

  • You appear to be cutting teeth because of all the chewing and drooling but nothing yet. I've heard it is common for boys to show signs of teething early but not actually have any teeth for a while. This seems to be the case for you.
  • You are almost sitting up on your own. You enjoy sitting in your activity seat and being a part of the action.
  • You care nothing about your activity gym and jenny jumper 95% of the time. The fussing starts as soon as we put you in it. You would much prefer to just be held and talked to :)

  • Your hair is coming in but it’s still hard to see because it’s so light. You have the least hair of all the Harrison babies :)  Your eyelashes are growing and full just like your siblings. You have mommy and Jack’s big lips, Georgia’s nose and daddy’s eyes.
  • You love to be naked but you hate bathtime. This started a few months ago and I’m hoping this stage is over soon. This is the only time you throw a fit on us.
  • I received so many warnings about boy babies giving you a shower when you changed their diaper and I think I can count on one hand how many times you have done that to me (Jack was the same). I think you love your mommy too much to pee on her.
  • You nurse exclusively when you’re with me and when we’re apart, you either take a breast milk or formula bottle. You typically take one formula bottle a day on days I work in the office. No cereal or table foods yet.

  • We have had some sleep regression this month. You were sleeping through the night and for the past month or so you want to nurse in the middle of the night a couple times. You sleep in your crib in our room, then typically stay in our bed after the first nursing session.
  • You love your rubber teether ring, watching Georgia and Jack act silly, peek-a-boo and pulling Owen’s hair. You have just about give up your paci.
  • Your favorite way to go to sleep-swaddled, rocked and bottom padded. Can you say spoiled!?!
  • You love to talk, talk, talk. You squeal and coo all the time. You love when someone talks to you and you try to talk back. It's the sweetest.
  • You love to watch your big sister and brother play. They both love treating you like their living baby doll :)

We love you so much, John boy! Happy 5 months!
Love,
Mommy

Christmas Memories

I have so many Christmas pictures and memories, yet so little time to get them all posted. We will be spending a lot of time at home this winter due to covid and life with a baby. I hope to use some of my time to get all caught up.

Baby’s first Christmas was well photographed. Marcus told me the other day most third kids don’t have a lot of pictures but not ours.

Two girls with messy buns getting stuff done.

Give me all the baby snuggles with this boy

We totally took a shortcut this year and bought the premade, precut gingerbread house kit. It saved a lot of stress and eliminated the not-so-fun parts. I have no regrets.

Georgia took this picture, she loves taking pictures of brother just like mama.

Our best friends are due with baby #3! I can’t tell you how excited we are. Rachel and I have been in sync with our motherhood journeys and I’m so excited for her to experience life with three. God is good!

Kathrine took this one day when she kept him. So peaceful and perfect.

It takes nothing to get this baby to smile! It is his default. I love it so much.

Big brother loves the kisses and slobbers!

We went to Owensboro and looked at Christmas lights one evening. It was a fun, safe, baby-friendly Christmas activity. We had to get some Starbucks coffee too.

Everyday is a photo op for this boy :)

Candy making night at Auntie’s house. We rarely take a group family picture and not everyone is there. I love my family.

We wore our matching Polar Express jammies out this season! I bought Georgia and Jack’s after Christmas on sale at Chatters two years ago, and searched and found John’s size to match this year!

Covid has kept Georgia and Jack from going to school in-person all of December so they would go to to Aunt Kay’s on days Marcus and I both had to go in to work. They attended the Christmas party and they were so excited for it! Look at the joy on her face. (She picked her outfit and requested the hair ‘do)

He was excited too! He has definitely missed being an Aunt Kay’s Kid since starting kindergarten.

John has decided bathtime is not fun. I hope he changes his mind soon.
