31 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 31 Weeks
Size of baby: Georgia is the size of 4 navel oranges
Total Weight Gain: Gained 17 lbs
Maternity Clothes: I wear maternity jeans and pants but everything else is regular. I'm preferring to wear dresses and elastic waist skirts at this point.
Gender: It's a girl!!! Georgia Grace Harrison
Movement: We are doing a nightly kick count and she is supposed to kick at least 6-10 times every hour. She has been reaching 10 kicks usually within 10-15 minutes ha!
Sleep: Better! I think I am so exhausted by the end of the day I just collapse.
Cravings: I am really drawn to italian food-pizza, lasagna, breadsticks. Still like my nightly glass of chocolate milk!
Symptoms: I think I started feeling some Braxton Hicks contractions this week! Mild lower back pain and tiredness.
Best Moment this week: Her baby shower!!

This week has been a lot of fun getting all of our shower gifts sorted and put away! It is still a work in progress but I know I have time so I am not rushing it. Our little starter home is going to be busting at the seams when we become a family of four (Owen included-he takes up a lot of space)!

My cousin Michelle aka Shelky that lives in Tennessee wanted to come to the shower SO bad but could not make it up to Kentucky last weekend. So when I got home yesterday our gift from her was waiting at my doorstep!

I cried when I read the scripture because it couldn't be more true. Before we ever started trying to have children, we prayed that God would provide in His time and through His will. Thankfully He blessed us very quickly and we owe Him all the praise!!! His timing is ALWAYS perfect. Oh, and the bloomers are just too much! Can't wait to see her little toosh in them ;)

And this gift was her first piece of mail! How sweet!

DIY Shower Dress

Several people have asked me about the dress I wore to the shower and yes, I made it! I had been shopping for a dress to wear to the shower and decided to look for ideas on pinterest. I found a tutorial for a DIY maternity dress. It didn't look too difficult so I thought I would give it a shot!

I took these pictures with my iPhone so they aren't the best. This was the top piece that I covered in lace. I found this fabric for I think $1/yd at Walmart-can't beat that!

I sewed on each flower individually. That was probably the most time consuming part.

The lace flowers and the sash were actually from a curtain! I found the curtain for $2 at a consignment store in my hometown. It served the purpose beautifully.

This is right before I sewed both pieces together. The dress looks huge because I had not used the elastic thread on the back yet.

The finished product!

It turned out to be the dress that I was looking for that I couldn't find in the stores. I have plenty of room to grow in it so I can wear it until the end. I joked with people that said I was a seamstress that we better make sure it doesn't fall off at the shower ;)

Thank you all for the sweet comments on the dress!

Georgia Grace's Baby Shower

Today was the day that every soon-to-be mommy looks forward to--the baby shower! We decided it would be easiest to have one big shower and invite all sides of the family. We were blessed with a HUGE turnout and a  mountain of precious things for our baby girl!

A few of the shower details- my sister and her housemates got crafty and made a lot of the personalized things for the shower. I just love this burlap pennant banner!

The beautiful cake! The design matches her quilted bedding and her monogram was on the top-sweet!

We also had a buffet of cupcakes-my favorite!

The sweet burlap table runners

The table where you could write parenting advice for us on pink doll dresses! Very neat and we enjoyed reading them last night before bed.

The gift table! Unbelievable!! We were so overwhelmed by the generosity.

Mommy and Daddy! We both look so happy in this picture.

A few snapshots of some of the gifts we got. Of course I would love to put a picture of everything she got on here but that would be impossible. Thanks to Aunt Shanna and Uncle Jake for being the photographers!

The event coordinator! Paige and mom worked so hard this week making sure everything was perfect. I didn't even get a picture with mom or Shannon! It was great being able to have both sides come together to celebrate such a special event. I can't thank my family and friends enough for making this such a memorable day! I can't wait to return the favor for Paige someday, even if we are in Tanzania or some place like that ;)

This picture really puts it in perspective!

We are sooooooooo blessed! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support you have shown us!

Owen & Baby

To be honest, I am really feeling pregnant these days. I have 9 weeks left and I can feel my body preparing for the biggest change my body has ever endured. I had some lower back pain during the middle of the week but that has subsided this weekend--I am so thankful! And there is nothing I love more right now than a nap ha! Someone twittered today that their bed gave Disney World a run for its money and I noticed myself nodding my head. I have been taking it easier the past few days. I know my limits and there is no need in me pushing it. A spotless house is creeping lower on my priority list ha!

Several people have asked us how we think our baby dog, Owen, will be with the new baby. He is such a loving and sweet dog we really think he will do just fine!

There may be a jealous transition period in the beginning as O gets used to not being the center of attention but we know to expect that. He does think the world revolves around him at the moment :)

He has had a lot of exposure to children through AKK's and he knows when it is time to be gentle and when he can rough house. I can see him being very protective of Georgia. He may give us company when we are up at all hours of the night.

I hope he loves Georgia as much as I think he will and becomes a companion for her to have throughout her childhood. I can't wait for the day we bring her home and see his reaction!

Tomorrow is my baby shower! I am very excited to visit with everyone and see all the goodies baby girl gets!

30 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 30 Weeks (The dress I'm wearing is the one I wore to the reveal party. It's fitting a little differently these days ha!)
Size of baby: She is the size of a head of cabbage and weighs approximately 3 pounds!
Total Weight Gain: Gained 17 lbs (halfway to the goal weight gain my doctor set for me)
Maternity Clothes: I wear maternity jeans and pants but everything else is regular.
Gender: It's a girl!!! Georgia Grace Harrison
Movement: Able to see/feel big movements like rolls and flips!
Sleep: Fair, I have been surrounding myself with pillows and that seems to help
Cravings: I crave chocolate milk every night before bed
Symptoms: heartburn (which will probably only get worse after seeing how much hair she already has!), more tired than usual but nothing major
Best Moment this week: Attending childbirth class with Marcus

As fall approaches and we get closer to meeting our daughter, I can't help but get excited for all the little accessories we get to put her in. There really is an endless amount of things you can get for a baby girl. Everything I see is so cute and I feel like she "needs" it ha!

I love these little football legwarmers! I think they will look so cute with onesies! Since she will be born right in the middle of football season, I know she will get to wear these a lot. Can't wait to see her in them!

And I may have to get her one of these just in case she does come when she is supposed to on Halloween :) This could be her first Halloween costume!

This is going to be so much fun!

Sewing Projects

I have told myself for the past couple of years that I wanted to learn to sew. When we found out we were expecting this winter, I decided then it was time to stop talking and start acting. I started out very simple with basic hemming and  hand stitching. I just recently starting taking on bigger projects.

One of my most recent projects is making a boppy cover. I was in need of one for my boppy pillow and I just couldn't find anything in the stores to suit me so I bought some fabric and thought I would give it a try.

Hubby is such a big help when I sew ha!

Here is the first one that I made (back side). It isn't perfect but it serves its purpose and still looks pretty cute. I may add her monogram to it-can't decide.

Since I had success with my first one, I decided to make a few more. This one is for Sara's baby boy Abbott. These are some of his nursery colors. I had some issues with this one but I am happy with the end result!

I think I am going to make another one for Georgia with this fabric I bought last week. I love all the bright colors in this print!

My Mamaw Embry was hoping that one of her granddaughters would carry on her sewing tradition. Now we just need one of the others to learn her skills in the kitchen ha! Marcus wishes that was me!

Busy but Blessed

We had a busier than normal weekend. It was good practice for us because the next few months are going to be jam packed with events!

We started our Saturday by attending our first childbirth class. On the way to my hospital we go through an Amish community and we have heard so much about their homemade donuts so we left a little early to pick up a dozen.

They were delicious! And HUGE! They are as big as a saucer plate. And the lady was so nice. She told us she thought fall was on the way which excited us!

Childbirth class went well, Marcus made it through without any fainting spells or queasiness ha! Most of the things we already knew but we learned new things also and it was reassuring to hear it from a professional.

One of Marcus' students had 5 new puppies and he named one of them Georgia! We went to see them Saturday, I am holding Georgia in the picture. I thought it was sweet that Jagger would give the only girl in the litter our baby's name :)

Saturday night Nathan and Rachel had us over for some ribs that were yummy! We didn't do
anything but sit around and talk but that suited us just fine!

Today was baby Ace's first birthday! Here is the birthday boy visiting with me and cousin Olivia at his party. He is the sweetest little boy ever!!

Abby did such a great job planning his party. She didn't miss one single detail! Elmo even made a surprise visit at the party :). It sure doesn't seem like it's been a year since we were visiting this little guy at the hospital. Abby and I are already discussing a prearranged marriage for Ace and Georgia ha! Happy 1st Birthday Ace!

I can't believe the weekend is over, this one seemed to fly by quicker than normal. Time flies when you're having fun!

Storm Damage

We had storms pass through our area Thursday night which resulted in us losing about 1/4 of our tree in the front yard. THANKFULLY the tree fell away from the house. We were sitting in the living room when the storm hit and we heard the cracking sound. We ran to the bedroom and after it was safe we saw that some of our tree fell! It could have been so much worse. I thank God for watching over us and for protection!

I am working on some of the final details of the nursery this week and wanted to share an early gift from my friend Sara! She had made something like this for her home but it was the state of Kentucky and had our hometown on it, so she made one for me of the state of Georgia! I love how it turned out! I found the old frame for a $1 at a local consignment store--I debated on painting it white but I think I will keep it wood to match all of her furniture. I'm thinking about adding a cute ribbon or rope and hanging it on a repurposed knob. Finished product coming soon!

Marcus went to the high school football game tonight (which they won-Go Bears!) and I decided to stay in and rest. Dad and Dianne had me over and fixed a big meal. Tomorrow morning we have a childbirth class! Hubby is thrilled about it ha! Hopefully I won't have embarrassing stories to post.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 14.5 lbs
Maternity Clothes: I wear maternity jeans and pants but everything else is regular.
Gender: It's a girl!!! Georgia Grace Harrison
Movement: Very active, especially before bedtime!
Sleep: Not as well this week, her moving has made it harder to fall alseep
Cravings: chocolate milk, ramen noodles
Symptoms/Sickness: mild indigestion, tiredness, my appetite has gone down a little bit
Best Moment this week: Marcus getting to share the news that he is going to be a daddy with his new 3rd graders!

We have had a busy week so far. The weather is so nice and fall-like so we have been taken advantage of it. My clothes line has been busy!  I am so pumped about fall being right around the corner. I was worried that the farther I got into my pregnancy the slower time would pass but it hasn't been like that. I still feel like the days are passing quickly and she will be here before we know it. My baby bump app on my phone recommended starting to think about what to put in our hospital bag-wow! Everyday is a new adventure and I am just enjoying the ride.

Odds and Ends

Wow! As of today I have had over 1,000 blog visits since I started blogging in the middle of July--thank you everyone! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy posting. I plan to continue blogging once baby girl gets here because I know I will have plenty to blog about then :)

Besides documenting all of our memories throughout the year, my other goal for this blog is to share my Christian faith. In Sunday School yesterday we discussed the topic of grieving. We talked about how easy it is to grieve about all of the tragic situations that surround us. And then we discussed grievance for the lost community and how we do not take that as seriously as we should. We should definitely grieve when tragedy strikes. But we often fall short as Christians when we put less value on a person's salvation. With that being said, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to anyone out there who is lost or just looking for a church home to come worship with us at Aberdeen Baptist Church. Or if you just need a fellow Christian to talk to,  you can contact me through this blog anytime. I am no bible scholar but I know Jesus as my personal Savior and I would love to share the good news with anyone else out there that needs to hear it. :)

Changing gears--here's a funny on Owen. He loves when school is in session because he likes to sit on the back of our loveseat and watch the traffic and kids walking to school. He has become quite notorious for sitting in the window. We have even had AKK kids have to drive by twice if they didn't see him the first time HA! He used to sit on the couch with his whole body on the back of the sofa. Well, over time we assume he has wore down the cushion and it doesn't support him like it used to.

Here is how he use to lay! So funny! Not spoiled at all.

When I got home from work today I was greeted with this nice surprise! This was MY highchair twenty-five years ago! Once my sister and I were finished using it my parents gave it to my grandparents to use at their house for the grandkids.

It is still in very good condition considering how many kids it has been through and how hard we were on it ha! I am going to make a new cover for it and it will be good as new! I love hand-me-downs like this and making old new again.

Enjoying Life

It has finally cooled off around here and I am so glad! I love a good hot summer but once school starts back, football season begins, and the days start getting shorter, I am ready for cool (or even pleasant!) weather. It also means that fall is right around the corner and that makes me giddy with happiness for so many reasons!

Some of my favorite people in the world came to visit us today! My cousin Michelle (better known as Shelky) and her kiddos Lyndsey Gail and Jordan came to see the nursery and to love on Owen. They live in Tennessee but were in town for the weekend and I am so glad they stopped by!! I should have got a pic!

Today has consisted of cleaning out and organizing our storage building, enjoying dinner from the Green Egg, and hopefully we will get to see a meteor shower before bedtime! I love productive Saturdays.

Total Weight Gain: Gained 14.5 lbs
Maternity Clothes: I wear maternity pants but everything else is regular.

Movement: Lots! A very active baby girl.
Sleep: Good! I am feeling more tired now as I enter my 3rd trimester.

Third trimester--yah! Seeing her this week at the ultrasound has made me that much more excited and anxious to meet her! It also made me realize there are still things we need to do before she gets here. I know these things will get done but my Type A is kicking in ha!
