A List For Friday

I've got lots of random things I want to blog about so I feel like a good list is suited for today's post. We've had an unconventional week with Marcus having five snow days and my normal work hours being skewed to be safe in the snow. Unconventional and altered schedules calls for an end of the week list to organize my thoughts.

1. Hard Drive-this is something I've been needing to do for a long time. We've been flirting with disaster having no backup for our files/pictures besides our work computers, social media, and blogger. I bought this hard drive after seeking expert advice from our IT Director at my hospital. I was clueless as to what I needed so I'm thankful she told me exactly what to get and all I had to do was click "Add To Cart". I guess this is what my weekend will look like...

2. Molars. We noticed on Tuesday that Georgia Grace's lower first molars (both sides) were in. I thought that it was odd that these came before her canines but it appears normal teeth development is first molars before canines. And I thought she was young but she's right on schedule! These are teeth #9 and #10. She has handled teething like a champ from day one. She has never drooled, ran a fever, acted cranky. Teething has been a breeze with this child.

3. Frozen. I told Marcus that if we had known this winter was going to be so cold we would have saved our trip to Jackson Hole (I'm sure my dad is glad we didn't) for a milder winter and headed some place tropical! I've got beach fever. I'm trying not to complain because I really do love snow. Maybe this next round that comes through this weekend will be the last of it.

4. Sesame Street Live. We are taking Georgia Grace to her first live show in May to see Sesame Street Live. I'm really excited about it! I realize she is not in the Sesame Street generation but she has watched it some and loves Big Bird so I hope it's a big hit. We are going with my good mommy friend Abby and Georgia's boyfriend Ace. Their first official date-with their mommies :) Maybe they will let us tag along when they are 16 too!

5. Big Girl. This week Georgia Grace has spent more time with her AKK friends while being home with daddy. They go up there during the day and she plays and does activities with them. She even got to eat lunch at the table and paint a picture with her new buddy Eliza. She definitely feels like she's a part of the preschool group now. And I feel like she is gettng too big too quick! Sigh.

6. Pediasure. We had our 15 month check-up last week and our pediatrician recommended starting GGH on Pediasure to promote weight gain. Being a dietitian I thought we were probably headed in this direction since her growth curve has not stayed on the upward trend. She was a rather big baby and remained near the 50th percentile until she became mobile. Dr. Lee said she's never going to be a "75th/75th" child because she's just petite but he would like to see her a little bigger so supplementing it is. I'm really good with this decision and so far she has accepted it well. I'm thankful that our baby is healthy and that this is something we can remedy. She will be thankful for her great metabolism someday :)

5. Snowy Thursdays At Home. Yesterday we dug out of the snow (it's not that deep but when neither vehicle is a 4WD it doesn't take much) for some mexican food. It's going to take more than snowmageddon to keep us from Garcia's ha! It hit the spot.

Speaking of digging out of the snow, this is what I tweeted Wednesday afternoon after three days of white knuckle driving in rough road conditions. I had a wreck three years ago this month due to snow so I am a little gun shy. The husband said, "Let's get a new SUV!". I said, "Let's get some beach front property!". Guess we will stick it out since we can't agree LOL!

I got to enjoy my own snow day with my snow baby in our winter wonderland. Before her tubes we literally ran to put her in the vehicle and ran to take her inside because we were so scared she would get another ear infection. Now I feel more secure about letting her enjoy the outdoors. We still bundle up and make quick trips but I'm so happy we can do these things now! I think she is happy about it too.

More snow is in the forecast for tonight, tomorrow and next week. We're having ourselves a good old-fashioned winter. TGIF!

Five On Friday

Happy Friday! We have a fun weekend of football coming up so I am extra excited to see the week come to an end. And it has finally cooled off here and it is supposed to be 75 with no humidity all weekend. Am I dreaming? No, fall has arrived!

One
I mentioned back in August that we were beginning a memory preservation idea I had that we've titled Film Fridays. Five Fridays have come and gone since we started this and I am happy to report that we are 5 for 5! I was worried that we would forget but so far so good.

They have all been very random segments but nonetheless entertaining. Last week we filmed GGH "reading" before we left for the football game. The footage probably won't be worth two cents because whoever is filming is usually laughing and the camera is moving the whole time ha! Oh well, that's our real life.

Two
Wednesday we took this looking way too big girl back to her pediatrician to check her ears, get the first dose of her flu shot, and discuss an issue we have been having. Her ears are healed (hallelujah!) and the flu shot only warranted about a 30 second blood curdling cry :). We weren't sure if her ears were ever completely healed because she continued to pull at them but it appears she has just developed a new habit (like her daddy). The other issue we discussed with him is her frequent vomiting. Since we started introducing table food we have noticed that she gags very easily. And more recently she has gagged which resulted in her throwing up. Her pediatrician thinks she just has an overactive gag reflex (like her daddy) and really isn't concerned about it. She has had consistent normal weight gain and is very healthy so we will just try to make sure all her bites are little and she chews it up really good. And slows down, she may be a fast eater too (like her daddy). Anyone see a pattern here?!? Ha! :)

She also has another tooth (right lateral incisor to be technical) which makes #5. It woke her up last night from the pain. The left one is swollen so I'm sure we will be seeing it soon.

Three
School pictures came back this week and I am smitten over this portrait of my professional man! I tried to get him to order some but he won't do it. Maybe I can turn in his form without him knowing...

Four

If you are local I am sure you have already seen this but for documentation sake here we are on a billboard! The hospital I work for approached me about marketing obstetrics/L&D services in my town to try to increase our market share and voila! Thanks to all who have contacted me to let me know they seen it and thought it looked great :) I was a little anxious about seeing myself 2 1/2 hours post-delivery magnified on a billboard but I think it turned out great. I love how it says "Georgia Grace Harrison & Her Parents"! That is spot on. It is her life and we are just living in it :)

Five
First birthday planning is filling up my daily to-do list along with ideas for her 1 year photo shoot. I am dying over this picture I found on Pinterest! And I totally want to try it. I hope Georgia Grace obliges :)

Happy Friday the 13th everyone! This day gets me very excited for Halloween!

Check-Up and Photo Dump

Tuesday was Georgia's 6 month well baby check-up. I have really started dreading these since our last shot experience was a whole lotta yuck.

We have one healthy baby girl! Just for my records, she was 15 pounds (25th percentile) and 25 inches (30th percentile). She's mini-sized :). I was concerned when the nurse told her weight but our pediatrician reassured me she was proportional and following her growth chart perfectly. We got the ok to start solid foods so we will gradually start introducing one food at a time. She's had peas and green beans and like both of them. Still not crazy about the baby food thing but I'm sure that will change as she gets use to it.

Then came time for the shots. There were only two this time and I held her and the nurse went very fast. She cried much less this time and was over it in 2 minutes. Thank you Jesus! Oh, and she loved the loud paper. She would have unrolled the whole roll if we would have let her!

Now just a photo dump. This was at Aunt Rachel's and Uncle Nathan's house. She's sporting her golf attire Rachel made her!

Doing a little bedtime reading :) We have started reading to her at night before bed. She loves flipping the pages. And eating the pages.

Y'all, it doesn't get any cuter than this. Oh I could just eat her up! This is her favorite way to sleep. And notice she's laying the opposite way in her crib ha!

Bathtime is so much more fun when you can sit up and splash! Gram gave her a bath in her jacuzzi tub and she had a ball!

Well she has handled the shots better this round but still symptomatic. She had a 100.1 temp this afternoon and has just felt yucky. I gave her some Motrin and she felt much better then. She has slept quite a bit so I'm praying she will just sleep it off. I bought her some new shoes and gave them to her tonight hoping they would make her feel better ha! I could just die over them. I'm sure I've enjoyed them more than she has.

Hoping tomorrow she is back 100%. This is hard on a mommy!

Our First Outing

Today was Georgia's one week doctors appointment and our first time getting her out and about. She did so good! Slept the whole way there and the whole way back. I think she's going to be a good traveler.

Here she is all fancy for her first outing! I think pink is her color.

Everything looked great. There is nothing more relieving than hearing your baby is healthy! She showed herself a little by peeing on her pediatrician ha! At least we didn't #2 on him.

And I had to post this pic of her "Georgia peach" outfit! I embroidered/appliquéd the onesie and my friend Rachel added the ruffle to the butt! I could just eat her up!

Our friend Tina made this for her and I absolutely love it! She is so talented. It matches her nursery so well.

We are lucky daddy is off work today and tomorrow for the election. It's been so nice having him home this first week. We are going to miss him so much when he goes to work but you can guarantee there will be two happy girls when he gets home each afternoon! :)
