Georgia is 1 3/4!

A new house, a new photographer (Daddy did the honors this month and did a fine job-he's such a good Daddy) and pictures to illustrate our girl's blooming personality featured this month. It's been three months of change as we sold our house, moved in with my Dad and started the process of building our new home. Georgia Grace has been a trooper through all the adversities and unfamiliar situations. God has outdone Himself with her.

Georgia-you are a year and 3/4!

  • I'm guessing you to be around 22 pounds and about 32-33 inches tall. You wear 18 month clothing and big girl panties during the day and a size 4 diaper at night. You are wearing a size 5/6 shoe.
  • Since I already mentioned the big girl panties, the biggest accomplishment in the past three months is potty training! You went all day yesterday in panties without an accident!! You still wear a diaper to bed but I don't think it will be long before we make the switch to panties. You have woke up dry several times. You couldn't make me more proud if you tried sweet baby girl!
  • You have a mouth full of teeth. I have truly lost count. One of your top lateral incisors ("second tooth") was really slow to come in and we were worried you didn't have it but it has finally appeared! Your teeth are cute and small and look like your Daddy's did at the same age.
  • You are speaking in full sentences. You try to say every word you here. And I can already hear that thick southern drawl in your voice. Wonder who you get that from? :)
  • The number 5 does still not exist to you. When we tell you to put a 5 between the 4 and 6 you say "No". Your teenage years are going to be fun :)
  • You nap most days (that will soon be everyday when you start preschool) and sleep through the night. Some nights we still rock you and some nights you go on your own. Your schedule has been more relaxed this summer by staying and waking up later but that will soon change with the start of the new school year.
  • You are very friendly and wave at everybody. You love men! And you remain such the Daddy's girl.
  • You like to keep busy and rarely sit still. I don't think you have ever sit down and watched 30 straight minutes of TV.
  • You will officially be an AKK preschooler this fall. You love it and I think it's made you more confident and outgoing! I'm so thankful for the structure, manners, curriculum and friendships that it offers. You are in the best hands no doubt when Mommy and Daddy are at work.
  • You have also inherited another personality trait from your mother of being bossy. It's your life and we're just living in it :) You love bossing Owen and repeating the commands I give him. You are first born through and through.
  • We finally said goodbye to the bottle! You sometimes have a sippy of milk before bed (trying to bump that up so we can do the nightime panty thing) but no bottle at all! It was an easy transition actually despite my fears. You fussed a few mornings for one but quickly accepted your beverages in a sippy or cup or through a straw and moved on with life. You make my job easy GGH!
  • You eat three meals a day but you are such a grazer. You want to be snacking on something all day long. This must be the reason for your high metabolism! Your favorite foods are corn, cheese, peaches, rice and strawberries. You love Mexican food!

Twenty one months went fast. Super fast. Faster than I even expected despite the warnings from fellow mommy friends. Even though time does move swiftly we wouldn't want to spend our time any other way. You are the best of both of us Georgia Grace and I'm super proud everyday to call you mine.

Happy 1 3/4 years to my little dolly! I love you forever!

-Mommy

And happiest of birthdays (#26) to our favorite guy in the whole world! We are celebrating tonight with dinner and they have both tagged along with me to a work conference at our state capitol so it's a nice little getaway for us. We love you MPH!

Georgia is 1 1/2!

When Georgia Grace turned one I decided to conclude my monthly updates for her and switch to doing them every quarter. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that we have been a family of three for a year and a half. We are halfway through year #2 and are having conversations about preschool, what her extracurricular activities might be and when to start potty training. I could settle for a slowdown.

Georgia-you are 18 months old!

  • You are wearing 12-18 month clothes, size 3 diapers and a size 5 shoe. You really enjoy being barefoot. You don't particularly like getting dressed each day or having your diaper changed. I'm hoping that's a sign of an early potty trainer.
  • You have 13 teeth. Your bottom canines just started popping through a week ago. Your upper right lateral incisor has yet to come in so you have a three tooth smile right now :)
  • Your favorite thing to do is to be outside. You would stay out from sun up until sun down if you had it your way. This summer is going to be a fun one!
  • You can say your name, most family member's name (no Gammy or Aunt Paigey-I think you might be a little stubborn ha!) and places we go frequently. You know a lot of animals and their sounds. You are saying 3-4 word sentences ("I get my bow" is my personal favorite to date).
  • You like to meet new people and have never met a stranger. You pretty much like everyone except your pediatrician and his posse. We have been joking that you should run for office because you smile, wave & "talk" to people everywhere you go.
  • You love to "go go". You like to be entertained and enjoy a change of scenery. You like riding in your carseat (because that means you get to "go go"). Strolling is also a highlight of your day right now.
  • You sleep 9-10 hours at night (in your crib without any wake ups through the night) with a two hour nap in the middle of the day. We still rock you to sleep every night minus a few nights you were tired enough to just lay down. I realize these moments are fleeting so I am giving myself some grace and enjoying the little bit of baby that is left.
  • Your most mentioned features are your arched eyebrows and abundance of hair. I know I am a biased mommy but you are beautiful and perfect just how God made you!
  • You eat three small meals a day and like to "graze" all day long on snacks. You like to try what everyone else is eating and you eat better for us if we feed you off our plate instead of giving you your own plate. We try to make meal time fun because you are not a big eater. And yes-you are still taking your milk bottle. Giving myself even more grace on that one ha!
  • You are into everything and make 13914813 messes a day. You are curious and busy and strong-willed. As tiring as you can be some days I am blessed to have a toddler that is full of life and energy.
  • People are thinking that you look more like your daddy now. You have a cheeky smile that lights up a room and a sweet, bubbly personality to match.
  • You LOVE boys. You gravitate towards them when you are with your peers. And you are a complete Daddy's girl.
  • You are starting to enjoy reading books and baby flash cards. Touch and feel books are your favorite.
Life as your mom for the past year and a half has been everything I dreamed it would be plus so much more. I look forward to all the milestones we will reach in the next three months. As I watch you transform from baby to little girl I am reminded of an excerpt from one of my favorite poems-

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
Song for a Fifth Child-Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Happy 1 1/2 years to our sweet Georgia peach! We love you with all we have!

Georgia is 15 Months Old!

I stopped doing monthly posts after her first birthday but I think it's time for a little return to tradition at the 15 month marker. A lot happens in 3 months of life! Plus I have dearly missed taking her picture in her rocker with her chalkboard every month so this gave me a great excuse to do it again except we created a "big girl" version.

Georgia-you are FIFTEEN months old!

  • You weigh 20 pounds and are 30 inches tall. You are wearing 12 month clothing and a size 5 shoe. You wear size 3 diapers. You are petite and perfectly you!
  • You vocabulary has really broadened in the last 3 months. You are saying around 15-20 words. You still have a lot of baby jabber too that is so precious to hear. One of the funniest things you do is when you go to leave a room, you point your finger at us and say "Right back" ha! And you've just started saying "Love you" but Aunt Shanna is the chosen one and is the only one that has heard that.
  • For the past few months bath time has not been a happy time until last week. We gave you a bubble bath (using your baby soap) and you had a big time and there were no tears! We think your bath fear was related to your ears so hopefully we have turned the corner.

  • Your new favorite expression is this huge squinty eye grin. You use it a lot and you're smart about using it to your advantage.
  • You have 8 teeth: 4 on top and 4 on the bottom. You can eat pretty much anything now as long as it is small bites. You actually really love meat and it appears you will prefer the salty foods like your daddy. Sweets are kind of take it or leave it with you. You also love prunes, cheese (long time favorite), beans, carrots, and spaghetti.
  • Bedtime is around 9p and on good nights you sleep until time for daddy to leave for work which is around 7:20a. Sleep has been somewhat disrupted over the past quarter but we're hoping that will resolve soon. We don't have much of a bedtime schedule right now but I know that will come with time. You are taking one big 2-2 1/2 hour nap every day.
  • You continue to take a bottle but you can drink from a straw sippy so we are (very) gradually weaning you. You still have a bottle whenever you want one but we offer the sippy often so that it will become routine for you.
  • You can tell us where eyes, nose, mouth, and ears (most of the time) are.
  • You are fast and into everything! You will run from daddy when he chases you, climb on anything you are big enough and you can create a mess in 1.243423 seconds flat. Your new trick is using Owen as a stepping stool by climbing on his back and then climbing up onto the couch.
  • You love going to church and anywhere in public. You are quite the crowd pleaser with your parade-style wave and frequent "Hiddy" salutations.
  • You are an excellent car rider. You love to travel and go places. You are quite the busy body but a good car ride calms and usually lulls you right to sleep. Traveling with you has been very easy.
  • Your favorite toys-kitchen, table and chairs (you REALLY enjoy climbing on top of your table), baby and stroller, LeapFrog Shapes & Sharing Picnic Basket, my ink pens (ha!), plush monkey, inflatable castle ball pit and Laugh & Learn farm.
That is chalk on her nose and forehead after she decided to use the chalkboard as a hat :)
We are 1/4 of the way through year two of your life. How that is possible I have no idea! These days are so fleeting and we try to cherish every moment that we can. The good, the hard, the easy, the trying. I know we will miss them when this stage of life transitions into the next.

We love you so much! More than you will ever know or comprehend. Our worlds revolve around what is best for you and what we can do to give you the best life possible. I pray for you everyday and thank God for allowing me to be your mother.

Happy 15 months, Georgia Grace Harrison! Let's take it a little slower these next 3 months shall we? :)

Georgia is Twelve Months Old!

Georgia-you are 1 year old!!!
Since you are a big one year old now, I changed it up and let you sit in your own chair. This is our last monthly picture. Say it isn't so! Where did my baby go? (Also I should add you had just woke up from a nap so serious bedhead going on!)

So what are you up to at a year??
  • I'm guessing you weigh 19-20 pounds. When we took you in for your 2nd dose of the flu shot a couple weeks ago you were right at the 19 pound mark. Your 12 month check-up is next week and you have already figured out the doctor's office and what they do to you there so that should be fun. :)
  • You wear 9 month and 12 month clothing, you are in size 3 diapers, and you wear a size 2 shoe.
  • You are learning and saying new words every week. This month you added "bobble" (bottle), "Ma (grandma)", "Na Na" (aunt shanna), and "kids" to your vocabulary.
  • We have completely transitioned you from breastmilk to whole milk. You have transitioned well with great acceptance but you have had some constipation issues so we are increasing your fruit and juice intake and putting dark karo syrup in your bottles per Ped's order. This is helping and we hope it will do the trick.

  • You are very hard to get a picture of right now. Either the pictures are blurry from movement, you aren't looking, or a multitude of other errors.
  • You still majorly love your bottle! I rock you to sleep every night and give you a bottle. I love this bonding time with you and neither of us are ready to give it up yet.
  • You eat three meals a day at the table with the rest of the family. You love to feed yourself and then when you are full you feed what's left to Owen :)
  • You are walking like a boss now! Just last night (Halloween) you were pivoting around and nearly ran in a full circle! You amaze us every day with your new talents.
  • Everywhere we go people stop us to compliment you! They think you are a doll and you usually give them a grin or crinkle your nose at them which makes me happy! I hope you will be a warm and kind person that socializes well and likes being around people.
  • Normal bedtime is 9pm and you are normally still asleep when daddy takes you to one of your grandmothers at 7:20am but you usually wake up at that point. On good days you take two naps which are each 1-1 1/2 hours long.
  • Your significant daily events:
October 4th: first taste of hamburger and fries-LOVE
October 6th: first steps!!!!!!
October 10th: first trip to the pumpkin patch
October 18th: first wedding (out of the womb-you appeared in Uncle Jake and Aunt Shanna's wedding at 38 weeks gestation), you were the flower girl in Aunt Paigey and Uncle Eric's wedding!
October 21st: said "Ma"
October 22nd: said "Na Na", started drinkin prune juice for constipation, and took your last breastmilk bottle (such irony)
October 26th: first birthday party!!
October 29th: said "kids" at AKK
October 30th: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGIA GRACE
October 31st: 2nd Halloween and found two more teeth (lateral incisors, lower teeth)
  • You are cutting two teeth right now which means you have 7 teeth total. Your teeth woke you up hurting last night so I gave you a teething tablet and you had instant relief and went right back to sleep. Teething has been easy for you relatively speaking. You have never drooled at all and you tolerate the pain well. We usually don't even know you have teeth coming in until we can see them.
  • I've said it before and I'll say it again-you are dramatic! You are quick to anger but also quick to recover and be smiling again. You HATE the "n-o" word and your feelings get so hurt when someone says it to you. You like things on your time and agenda.
  • You will not stay in the church nursery and are not comfortable with strangers right now. Everything is a season and this will pass I know.
Happy 12 months/1 year of age Georgia Grace! I'm not sure how we got here so quickly but I have loved every second of the ride. You are the apple of our eye, the icing on the cake, the cherry on top, and our sunshine on a cloudy day.

We love you sweet child of mine!

Georgia Is Eleven Months Old!

Georgia-you are ELEVEN months old!

Here is what you have been up to lately:

  • You probably weigh 18-19 pounds, wear 9-12 month clothing, size 3 diapers, and size 2/3 shoes. I think your little feet are finally starting to catch up with you, they have really grown this month.
  • You can say "momma", "dadda", "pa", "yum yum", "up", and "bye bye". You blow kisses on command too! At first you were only blowing kisses to men but now everyone gets kisses from you.
  • You really hate having your diaper changed. It's usually a traumatic experience. I'm crossing my fingers this means you will potty train easy and early.

  • We had an issue at the beginning of the month where you would throw up every 2-3 days from getting choked on your bottle or food. We were concerned about it but your pediatrician said that he thought it was just a hypersensitive gag reflex that you inherited from daddy. You haven't had any issues in three weeks! So glad that is resolved.
  • You have 5 teeth-3 on top and 2 on the bottom. Teething has not been a big deal for you so far and I hope it stays that way.
  • You are starting to need more sleep because you are such a busy body. Most nights are 10 hours of sleep but you have had a few 12 hour nights. You continue to take a morning and afternoon nap that average out to be an hour each.

  • Your significant daily events:
August 30th: blew your first kiss to poppa<3
August 31st: visit back to Doctor's office for pulling at your ear
September 2nd: first time trying cheerios-one of your new favorite foods (just like your mommy at that age)
September 9th: blew a kiss to daddy for the first time
September 9th: your first billboard appearance!!
September 10th: Tooth #5!

September 11th: first flu shot
September 13th: started saying "Yum-Yum"
September 17th: tried mandarin oranges for the first time-you didn't like the sliminess so you spit it out but we tried again and you liked it then. (Side note to any fellow mommy readers-sometimes it takes a baby up to 10 times of trying a new food before they will accept it so don't give up too quickly! I have to remind myself of this.)
September 19th: blew bubbles for the first time
September 20th: repeated the word "yellow" very clearly
September 21st: first bonfire

  • You are eating three good meals and taking 4-8 oz breastmilk (thawed from frozen supply) bottles per day.
  • You prefer to feed yourself these days. We try to offer a combination of finger foods and spoon-fed foods at each meal to keep you happy and mommy happy.
  • Your favorite foods are CHEESE, cheerios, any fruit but bananas (you will eat them sometimes), apple juice, and bread. I hope you continue to be a good healthy eater!
  • You are so so so close to walking. When you are down in the floor playing you stand about 50% of the time. You are super cautious and you don't feel completely comfortable venturing out yet so you are content to just stand. When we walk you around by holding your hands you fly! You might go straight from standing to running.
  • You love to be outside. Funny story-your Gammy has been coming over in the afternoons before cross-country practice and takes you with her to see the kids. Well Gammy came to visit on Sunday and you were fussing and pointing to the door. We figured out you were wanting to go to XC practice! You are such a smart one.
  • You are a social baby and like to be the center of attention. If someone in the room is not paying attention to you you take care of that real quick by squealing at them or crawling to them. You will never want for nothin' :)
  • You love bath time, playing in Owen's doggy bowls (although that has stopped since we said the big "No" word), "reading" books, climbing, wrestling with Daddy and Owen, and playing with electronics. You like to be entertained!
  • As you can tell in your pictures your hair has gotten SO long and is starting to curl. Beyond precious. Your hair is still a dark brown and you are a brown-eyed girl now!

In one short month we will have celebrated your birthday and you will be a big one year old girl! I cannot believe it. I am constantly reminded that the days may be long sometimes but the years are so short. This past year has been the best year of our lives sweet girl! What was life like before you? We have experienced a love that we didn't know until we met you. And sorry sis but you are stuck with us forever because we are pretty crazy about you ;)

Happy 11 months baby Georgia! Mommy and Daddy love you endlessly!

Georgia Is Ten Months Old!

Georgia-you are TEN months old! Double digit months! You are quickly becoming our big girl.

Here's what your life as a ten month old looks like:
  • You weigh 18 pounds and I would say around 28 inches long. You are wearing 6-9 month clothing, a size 3 diaper, and size 1 shoes. I've bought you real shoes with a sole (shown in pictures) for fall and you look so big in them.
  • You have two bottom teeth and two top teeth! The top two are just coming in so they are harder to see but the bottom two are very visible and you like showing them off :)
  • We started you on a new feeding schedule last month that seems to be working well. Solid foods have gotten MUCH better and you can use a sippy cup pretty good now. But you still enjoy your breastmilk bottles (I have weaned myself so you are getting all frozen breastmilk now), especially when you're sleepy. And this momma has no plans to take that away anytime soon!
  • Your favorite foods are carrots, pancakes, apple juice, scrambled eggs, whole grain puffs, and water. You don't care for bananas and oatmeal. We have nixed baby food completely and switched to lightly-seasoned table food per pediatrician orders. You are very happy about this!
  • Your sleeping schedule continues to be 9pm-7am most mornings with a long morning nap and a shorter afternoon nap (usually one hour). On Thursdays when I am home with you we sometimes take your morning nap together. I hope you never get too big to let me nap with you and hold you while you sleep.
  • You have found the kitchen cabinets and you LOVE to explore inside of them. You like to trace the design on our big area rug in the living room with your pointer finger (so funny!). You like to push the buttons on the carbon monoxide detector and set it off about once a week which scares your doggy brother to death!
  • Your significant daily events:
August 1st: first time trying avocado-LOVE
August 8th: pushed your walker for the first time unassisted
August 9th: ate dog food....................
Augus 10th: first bouncy house experience and first nibble of cupcake
August 11th: two top teeth!!! And first time trying pancakes-LOVE
August 12th: stood for 30 seconds unassisted!
August 18th: first kiss-Ace Russell Hankins<3<3<3
August 19th: first haircut
August 23rd: first football game
August 29th: first nibble of meat (roast)-you forgot to chew and just swallowed it ha!

  • You have started "biting" us which is actually more like nibbling and you get the biggest kick out of it! You will just squeal and squeal. You seem to enjoy inflicting pain...
  • You LOVE blankets. Love. Our new bedtime routine is I snuggle you up in a blanket and you take your night bottle while I rock you to sleep. It is amazing the effect a blanket has on you. If you are upset we go grab a blanket. Blankets to the rescue! Now I'm waiting for the day you determine your favorite and you become inseparable with it.
  • As far as your mobility you are a super fast crawler and are showing all the signs that you will walk before you are one year old. You have excellent balance. You never fall, if you are standing and want to sit down you gracefully just bend your knees and have a seat. This gives us a lot of comfort for when you do take off.
  • We are starting to tell you "No" and you are learning that no means you shouldn't do it. You don't always like hearing it but so far that has been enough to correct your behavior.
And this is reality y'all! Non-blurry pictures don't come easy these days. Or forward facing pictures for that matter. You can tell the chalkboard has been through it!

Happy ten months, Georgia Grace Harrison! You make our lives so full and fun.

Georgia Is Nine Months Old!

Georgia-you are NINE months old!
{First off-Happy Birthday (yesterday) daddy!!! I will post on his special day at another time. I'm sure he is chomping at the bit waiting for it HA! We love you!}

Here's what's going on in Georgia Grace's world:

  • I am a day late on your monthly update post because I wanted to wait for your 9 month check-up that we had today (more on that later). You are 16 pounds 11 ounces (15th-25th percentile) and 27 3/4 inches in stature (50th percentile). You grew 2 3/4 inches in 3 months-wow!! You continue to be a petite mini but you are following your growth curve beautifully.
  • You are wearing 6 month clothes mostly, an occasional 9 month dress or 6-12 month outfit. You are wearing size 2 diapers and size 1 shoes. Tiny footsies!
  • You have two bottom teeth that are very sharp and very cute.

  • Your sleeping schedule is 8:30-9pm to 7am. You usually take a morning nap and a long afternoon nap. You LOVE to go to sleep by being sung to and with a soft blanket wrapped around you. You like comfort!
  • Your favorite "toy" right now is the door stop behind the front door. You gravitate to it like a magnet and thump it over and over again. So funny!
  • You love exploring our side tables, fireplace, Owen's treat basket, and all lower cabinets in the kitchen. Operation childproofing is well underway.

  • Since you started riding in your big girl carseat you are a much better traveler. You love a good car nap. Mommy and daddy on the other hand do not! Nothing messes up a good routine like a car nap.
  • You have started recognizing strangers and can identify people you are familiar with. The word mommyitis has been used a time or two this month. It's not full-blown mommyitis but you know who your momma is and sometimes you just want her. And momma is totally ok with that!
  • Another word(s) that has been used to describe you this month-drama queen. I hate to paint you with that brush baby girl but... For example, the other day you were feeding yourself cereal puffs and one got stuck to your finger and you couldn't get it off and you got so mad and threw your head back and just wailed with flowing alligator tears. Life as a 9 month old is just so unfair sometimes.
  • You strongly dislike having your nose picked or wiped. Since we had our first sickness this month we have been doing this quite a bit. Bless it.

  • When you're mad, you're mad. When you want something, you want it NOW. I must confess this is probably your mommy coming out in you.
  • You LOVE driving granddad's electric riding chair, riding in your carrier on mommy or daddy, grabbing O-dog's tail, and feeding yourself finger foods.
  • You talk and squeal so much. We get the biggest kick out of listening to you and watching your facial expressions when you're telling a story.
This month I started jotting down significant daily events in my planner which has made it much easier to keep up with when things happened. I am a numbers girl so I know this will be handy to look back on.
July 13th-first time riding in a convertible carseat
July 14th- put up pink Jeep (sad day but she's too on-the-go for it now. It's safely tucked away in storage for future use!)
July 18th-first time skinny dipping
July 19th-first WORD. Which was "crackle". What can I say we like to be original!
July 21st-first sickness ;(
July 26th-first time trying a pickle-LOVED
July 28th-first time in church nursery
July 31st-first time trying scrambled eggs-LOVED (no allergy-yay!)

Today was our 9 month checkup as I mentioned and it was just not a good time. At all. Here we are pre-meltdown city. We had to wait a while in our room before her pediatrician could see her so we were trying to keep her entertained.

She eventually started scaling the walls. The picture is pixilated because it's nearly impossible to get a clear one when your child is climbing a wall!

So the bad news is she has a left ear infection. We couldn't believe it! No fever, acting perfectly normal, no tugging at her ear. He said it was pink and bulging so he prescribed a 10-day dose of amoxicillin. I am "anti-antibiotic" but I knew she had to have it to clear up the infection. She has had two doses and no side effects so far. Believe me I will be pumping her full of yogurt over the next week and a half!

Her pediatrician also wants us to switch her to table food (lightly seasoned). I told him about the struggles we have had with her acceptance of baby food. He reminded me that breastfed babies typically do not do as well on baby food due to being satisfied with mommy's milk. Makes sense.

So tonight I have developed a feeding schedule. We will see how it goes and make adjustments as needed. It is dietitian approved :).

I must confess feeding my baby has been hard. I thought the transition to solids would be so easy and effortless. But it hasn't been. I'm hoping changing her food choices (per pediatrician recommendation) will create better acceptance of solids. I think she is probably going to be petite and never going to be a big eater but I want to make sure I am providing the best nutrition possible. I haven't breastfed 9 months to give up now!

See, it's not always peaches and cream. But the good FAR outweighs the bad. I can handle little bumps in the road like this. I'm thankful for my support system who offered words of encouragement to me today (as I was emotionally proclaiming I was the worst mother of the year and possibly shedding a tear or two. Hey it happens!)

Happy 9 months baby girl! You are one tough cookie. We are so proud of you and love you soooooooooooo much!

Georgia Is Eight Months Old!

Georgia-you are EIGHT months old!

This months has been jam packed full of milestones. Here's the latest:
  • I honestly have no idea how much you weigh and I haven't been very good at guessing ha! I will say 17 pounds. I'm proud to say we haven't had a reason to go to the doctor so our most recent stats are from your 6 month well baby check-up. You are probably 27 inches.
  • BIG news-you are crawling! You started crawling this month but there wasn't a "Look-she's crawling!!" event. It just kind of happened. You've practiced for a long time and you still haven't crawled more than 3-4 feet but you sure find a way to get around.
  • You want to pull up on EVERYTHING. There's no sitting still with you my child. I may never have to join a gym again! :)

  • You are taking four 7-8 ounce breastmilk bottles per day plus eating baby food two times per day. Your favorite foods are oatmeal + yogurt and sweet potatoes.
  • You like to drink out of a sippy (more like just pretend) and you like for us to syringe feed you water ha!
  • You love your baths and swimming! You would stay in both for hours if we let you.
  • You are cutting your two bottom teeth! They are not fully exposed yet but we can see them and bless your heart you just haven't felt the best. I found them last week and looking back you have been clingy and cranky. You haven't drooled at all which was the symptom I was looking for. And no fever. This too shall pass!
  • Your eyes are really starting to look brown now! Yay!
  • Our sleeping schedule has been thrown off since you started teething. Some nights you are exhausted and crash at 8pm and some nights you stay up and rally until 11pm. We are just rolling with the punches right now.
  • You love to be sung to. "Tammy" from Tammy and the Bachelor is your absolute favorite. That song has been sung to many generations in the Harrison family and it's holding true to its effectiveness. You also love the Hotdog song from MMC and "Song of the South".
  • You aren't the best traveler right now. We think maybe the 10 hour trip home from Florida is still lingering in the back of your mind ha! We are going to get you a bigger carseat and we hope that will do the trick.
    {teething stinks}
Wow-8 months. You're cutting teeth, crawling, pulling up. So independent. We love you so much baby girl and can't wait to see what the rest of the summer will be like for you.
Happy 8 months to our GGH!

Georgia Is Seven Months Old!

Georgia-you are SEVEN months old!

Georgia what have you been up to this month?!?

  • You are 16 pounds and 26 inches long to my measuring. You are wearing 6 month clothing and you can still get in a few 3-6 month pieces depending on the make/brand. You are wearing size 2 diapers.
  • You are constantly on the go! You do not like to be laid back unless you are sleepy. You prefer to be sitting up on your own or standing on our lap-little miss independent!
  • You are taking about five 6 oz breastmilk bottles per day and eating breakfast and dinner. Typically breakfast is whole-grain oatmeal and dinner can be a variety of apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, peas, or green beans. You seem to have liked everything you've tasted so far except bananas, I don't think you care for them.

  • You still seem to prefer your milk over food. You may be a hard baby to break from the bottle! You have drink water also and did good with it.
  • You love to be naked and kick your legs on your changing table. Sometimes when you aren't wanting your diaper changed you throw a "mini-fit" and I'm pretty sure you think your life is horrible in that moment ha!
  • You love to jump in your Jenny Jumper while mommy cooks supper.
  • You have started reaching for us when you want to be held which we absolutely love. You sure know the way to our heart!

  • When you wake up in the mornings you are so happy and excited! The mornings I get to be there when you wake up are the best mornings.
  • You still take your paci but only when you are sleepy. You put it in and out of your mouth with your hands during the day. You like to be in control ha!
  • You continue to sleep through the night and your napping has improved! I'm pretty sure you go so hard during the day you wear yourself out. Most days you take a morning 30 minute nap, long afternoon nap, and 30 minute evening nap. And the last few mornings you have slept until 9am (bedtime:10pm)-woohoo!!

  • Mommy blow-dried your hair for the first time this month. We were getting ready for church and your hair wasn't drying fast enough with a towel so I used the blowdryer! I doubt many 7 month old babies are having to do this yet ha!
  • You are right on the cusp of crawling. I feel like if we really pushed you you would be crawling right now but this mommy is in no hurry for that.
  • You LOVE Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. When you hear the Hotdog song, you stop whatever you're doing and direct your attention to the TV. I am amazed at how observant you are. To get your attention for a picture we have started singing the Hotdog song to you ha!

If you can't tell from the variety of pictures, this photo session was a challenge! All she wanted to do is grab the chalkboard and chew on it. I didn't get one decent one of her with the board sitting beside her and did you notice the attitude she was giving me?!? Lord be with me through her teenage years :)
Happy 7 months Georgia Grace! You keep us on our toes and our lives are so much more fun with you! We love you oh so much.

(The pillowcase dress Georgia Grace is wearing was made by my church's youth girls and our friend Esther Givens. It is a special piece to me and I am so glad she was able to wear it!)

Georgia is Six Months Old!

Georgia-you are SIX months old! Halfway to one. You can stop growing up so fast anytime now. Here is what the past month has looked like for you:
  • You are probably around 16 pounds and 26 inches long. We go for your 6 month well baby check next Tuesday. This will be your last doses of shots until your 1 year check. Mommy is definitely not mad about that!
  • You are wearing mostly 6 month clothing and size 2 diapers. You can still wear some 3-6 month onesies. I have noticed your feet have really started growing because the heel of all of your cute "shoe socks" are covering your arch instead of your heel now ha!
  • Eyes=dark blue. A friend told me her baby's eyes did not turn brown until she was one year old so who knows what will happen!

  • Your hair remains dark, long and slightly wavy. If it dries on its own it kinks up into cute curls! Your bangs are in your eyes pretty bad. There's no way we are making it to 1 year before having a haircut!
  • If your belly is full, you sleep through the night no problem. I always put you down on your back but by morning you are usually on your belly and in a totally different part of the crib from where we laid you.
  • You continue to take 5-6 6 oz breastmilk bottles per day and 1-2 servings of oatmeal cereal at night with a spoon. You enjoy your oatmeal cereal more so than the rice cereal but you have to be in the mood for it or you become more interested in trying to get your hand in the bowl and playing in it. Such a mess! Occasionally we will give you some fruit in the teething feeder which you LOVE.
Today we celebrated your 6 month birthday by letting you try baby food for the first time. That was an experience! I will devote a post to that, I'll just say both of our nights ended in the bathtub...
  • You love to go and do. I think you get bored when we just chill at home sometimes. I see a social butterfly in the making.
  • You are CONSTANTLY moving! Even when you are taking your bottle you are wiggling. You are like a worm in hot ashes! Your grandma says your daddy was just like this. I am glad you are baby #1 so we still have energy to keep up ha!
  • You still take your paci some but when you are done with it you will pull it out of your mouth and chew on it or just hold it. Miss Independent!

  • You can bring yourself up on all fours using your elbows so I suspect you will be crawling in no time.
  • You went on your first overnight trip this month and you were a rockstar traveler! Mommy and daddy were so thrilled because we love to travel and we want you to see the world with us.
  • As of last night you are sitting up on your own! Mommy and Georgia were playing in the floor with blocks at Gram's house and I just slowly moved away from you and you kept sitting there like it was no big deal. You are awesome babycakes!
  • You love your jeep walker, "exploring" on your changing table, strolling, and when people come to visit you. Life is really fun right now!

I look forward to waking up everyday and being your mommy! We are crazy in love with you! It has been a half of a year of pure joy.

Look at you grow! Happy 1/2 birthday baby girl!
