Five on Friday

One
Georgia Grace has had a week of transitions as we adjust to our new schedule and routine. She loves going to her Grandmomma's to play with her friends and seeing the school buses in the morning but she doesn't love naptime, brushing her teeth and bedtime. I'm hoping next week these things will start coming easier. It's been hard on this momma to see her upset by the things we know she needs although she doesn't think she does. I think this selfie face says it all!

But she's still a happy girl all the other time! Let her play outside and watch Frozen and you're set :)

Two
Yesterday the SEC Network launched! And the first live game for the network will be a UK basketball game today which is super cool considering it's August. I know this will be our main channel this fall. College football season can't get here soon enough!

Three
When I found out I was pregnant with Georgia Grace my mom gave me a copy of "Little Mommy". I had a childhood copy but the pages were ripped and it wasn't in good condition so she found me a brand new copy. I read it to her sometimes and tonight she specifically requested it. I was blown away that she remembered the title! I screamed for Marcus and showed him that she was pointing at the book saying "Little Mommy". I feel like I have made it as a girl mom :)

Four
Yesterday marked the 15 year anniversary of the motorcycle wreck that nearly took Marcus's parent's lives. They were victims of a hit and run incident with a drunk driver that left them both in serious condition. Today we praise the Lord that He spared both of them on that night! God wasn't finished with them. I'm thankful GGH has a Ma and Pa here today that we all love so very much!

Five
I'll conclude with one of the highlights of my week. My sweetest friend Beth Lau sent me the most encouraging note this week to congratulate me on my new job. Her words are always so life giving to me. It was exactly the pick me up I was needing. I'm thankful God brought us together during our WKU days and continues to allow us to be in each other's lives despite the distance.

Happy Friday friends!

Last Weekend, Frankfort & A Dream Come True

We have completed over half of our #summerbucketlist and have plans for most of the rest of the tasks. Marcus and I have both really enjoyed having these established goals to keep track of fun things we can do with Georgia Grace. To say she has had a fun summer would be a major understatement.

Last Friday night we celebrated Marcus's birthday early with his family at one of our favorite BBQ restaurants Moonlite. And it just so happened in the humungous restaurant we were seated right by GGH's "boyfriend". We heard about her "boyfriend Ace" all the way home. They are just the sweetest!

Last weekend you could have found us poolside. This is our first summer with Mom's new pool and I think we've done our part to illustrate it was money well spent :)

Sunday night was Mexican night. We normally have quiet Sunday nights at home preparing for the week ahead but we felt like doing something a little different and enjoying the relaxed schedule that comes with summer.

Me: "Georgia, do you want to go to Garcia's?"
GGH: "Yes, chips!" Ha!
We have a deep love for our Mexican food around here.

She was such a big girl to sit in the booth all by herself and feed herself (mostly). And the Baby Bjorn Bib was one of my best purchases as a parent. Wipe it off and go! So much easier than laundering stained cloth bibs.

Thursday I had to be in Frankfort for a conference and since I would be staying overnight my two favorites tagged along! I trained, they toured the town. I know who got the better end of that deal.

But they saved the best for last so I could be a part of it. Because it's not a trip to Frankfort without visiting the State Capitol building! This was Georgia Grace's first trip and she loved climbing the steps and running around the perimeter. We didn't get to go in as they weren't giving tours that day so we will have to make another trip so she can see the inside. It's so beautiful!

The best photo bomber I've ever seen. She made the picture so much cuter :)

We walked the gardens of the Governor's Mansion also-when in Rome. It's modeled after Queen Maria Antoinette's villa in Versailles, France. Nope, didn't know that prior to the trip, read a historical society sign :)

So why was I in Frankfort this week???

Because I have some big news to share...

I have accepted the position as the Director of Special Programs for Butler County Schools! I have always had a passion for nutrition, especially school nutrition. I have aspired to become a nutrition director and those aspirations are now reality. I will be the director for other programs in the school district as well that are equally important and I'm excited about that opportunity to be involved in other aspects of children getting the very best education.

Thank you to those who prayed and supported me. God has truly went before me to open doors and make provisions according to His plan. And thank you to my Grayson County family for three wonderful years at TLRMC! I will miss the people and hospital so much but I know this is the path I am suppose to be taking. And they have all supported me and wished me well despite hating to see me go-love those people so much.

I'm ecstatic to begin my new career at BCBOE! Go Bears!

Georgiaisms

It's been a while since I posted about the latest Georgiaisms. This summer we have watched her change in so many ways. She is baby turned little girl in just a matter of months. It's a beautiful thing to see her learn new skills and possess certain mannerisms and take on a young girl look. She really feels like such a big girl. Thank goodness she's not as big as she acts sometimes :)

Here are some of the new, awesome, funny things our Georgia Grace is conquering:

The biggest, most awesome new thing is that she is 90% potty trained! She wears panties through the day and a diaper if we are going somewhere and for bedtime. She has woke up several mornings with a dry diaper! So far potty training has been really easy with this child. She started showing interest back in May and has just continued to want to be a big girl. What's funny is she is so young that she doesn't value panties really. We make a big deal out of them and buy her new ones and give her the option between the diaper or panty and she could care less. Guess that comes with a potty training 20 month old :) Hopefully we will be 100% by the start of the new school year. So so so proud of her!

Something funny she just started doing this week is she calls my Mom (who wishes to be called Gammy) Tammy! She is not a fan of the G sound and has refused to say Gammy up until now which is actually Tammy. Mom is just thrilled she has a name :) Tammy it is.

When she counts it goes "One, Two, Free, Fo-a, Sich..." Five does not exist to her no matter how many times we say it the correct way. And they way she pronounces those numbers is to die for cute.

When we tell her we love her, she says "Love me". She understands there is a possessive pronoun change but hasn't quite mastered the correct one. I love it though.

She loves ending words with the "e" sound. Pooie, Owie (Owen), diapie, Shannie...the list goes on.

Marcus was hollering for me from downstairs and GGH heard him and said "Kate" (what Marcus calls me mostly). We weren't sure if that's what she said so we asked her to say it again and sure enough it was "Kate". It was so strange to hear her say anything but Mommy. I quickly corrected her :)

Her vocabulary grows everyday. She has started saying that she "needs" things ("I need to see my Dadda") and can carry on a small conversation rather well. Her annunication of words has really improved in the last few months. It does appear she has inherited her mother's talking gene.

We are right smack dab in the middle of taking away the bottle. We are down to just a night bottle. It's completely a comfort thing for her because she can use a sippy, straw, and a regular cup with no problem. This morning she really wanted her bobble. Parenting is hard sometimes. I'm thankful this is really the only thing we have had to wean from her. It's enough though.

She has loved playing with her AKK friends this summer when her and Daddy go over to Grandmomma's to visit. They love the days "baby Georgia" comes over to play with them.

Her uniform this summer has been a swimsuit. Between three pools in the family and a watertable we are constantly doing something in the water.
She has taken a recent interest in dressing herself. She doesn't like to have her clothes changed but for some reason she finds amusement when she does it herself. She loves to wear other people's shoes and clothes as well.
Since moving to my Dad's house they have become so close. Every night when he gets home from work she says "Poppa, Poppa, Poppa" and sticks her little hand out motioning him to come to the playroom with her. It's precious. They are best buddies!
These days are really special. I wish I could bottle them up special. We are definitely on the wee part of the ride.

Five On Friday

The week following a vacation is always a toughy. We've had a lot on our plate this week so I'm extra glad to see the Friday date (even if it is the 13th). And I'm even more glad it's the weekend because we get to celebrate the dads and we will be do so accordingly on the lake! We can't get enough of the liquid stuff :)

Here is our week recapped into five things-

One
The week started on a bad foot for my Georgia Grace. We noticed her eyes were red when we were coming home from the beach but associated it to tiredness and sun/water. When they remained red and irritated through the weekend we called her pediatrician to get her seen about. Poor baby has conjunctivitis :(. Treatment is just eye drops and no antibiotics, that's a silver lining. Another silver lining is she was much less anxious this appointment than at her 18 month check-up (vomit on the pediatrician's shoe-remember?) Her eyes are improving, I'm hoping they will be all clear by the weekend!

Two
I posted this on IG and Facebook to see if it was just me or if there is a resemblance between my daughter and the Olsen twins. I think we are all in agreement these two favor! My Mom says all of those episodes of Full House we watched rubbed off on my first born ha! I was (still am) crazy about Full House. Anything Mary-Kate and Ashley really. I belonged to their fan club, bought every VHS and book with their face on it and wanted to go to San Fran just to see the Full House house ha! I don't mind this similarity one bit :)

Three
My charming, dainty daughter has a new frequently used word--"pooie". Pooie equals either a toot or the real thing. She always lets us know when she does something down there and doesn't care who she is around or where we are at when she makes the announcement. She even uses it in past tense- "I pooied". You have to appreciate her expanding vocabulary. Hey at least she owns it!

Four
Our church's VBS has been going on all this week and my Mamaw took Georgia Grace with her today. She must have been a sleepy girl because the two pictures I got from friends she has her eyes closed in both. She had the best time! Somehow she moved up to the 5th grade girls class (bet cousin Payton has something to do with that...) and already knows the dance to the theme song. VBS is the best!

Five
Tonight we are meeting with our architect for our first set of revisions to our house plan. We hope to have the plans finished and finalized by the end of this month if all goes as planned. I've been looking at interest rates (hello--so low!!) and making financial plans this week in preparation for our much anticipated ground breaking. Ready or not this train is rolling! Hope I can hang on.

Happy Friday y'all!

Summer Beach Vacation 2014 Part Two

I took way too many pictures for one post so here is the second addition to our summer beach vacation. I keep saying summer beach vacation to remind me that it's not goodbye for a year like normal because we are going back to the beach in the Fall for one of my best friend's wedding! Two beach trips in one year? Don't mind if I do!

Here's a few more candid moments from this past week-

Marcus and Stan went deep sea fishing with friends Scottie and his son Gage. It was red snapper season so that was what they were fishing for but they caught king mackerel instead. The waters were really rough that day so I think just staying vertical in the boat was considered a success. Thankfully no one got sick or thrown overboard! Marcus caught a king mackerel so he was pleased. It was an experience to say the least!

It's not a vacation without a little shopping thrown in here and there. GGH was my trying on helper at the Pink Narcissus in Pier Park. I thought she was pretty as a picture in the gorgeous fitting room and now I am wanting to use some bold wallpaper in our new house! So fun.

Back to the beach. She wasn't a big fan of the baby pool this year. She had her sights set on the ocean. Can't blame the girl. My baby is growing up so fast.

Waterlogged baby girl. She was soaked from head to toe everyday.

Snacktime. A water bottle and goldfish were the usual with a grain of sand or two mixed in :)

We hung out at the pools some too, they were shaded  and pretty empty in the mornings so that was great for us.

She was Gammy's girl this week. She has us all in the palm of her hand but especially her Gammy :)

We brought her puddle jumper but she preferred just being held in the pool. She got brave and jumped off the side a few times.

Enough of the pool, the beach is where it's at :)

Poor baby was blinded by the sun so we had to rotate a bit. I am a blessed gal y'all.

Since she was the happiest in the water we frolicked in the ocean a lot (by ourselves in the morning). She loved every minute of it! It was noticeably less crowded than this same week last year. We enjoyed no waits at restaurants and the lack of bumper-to-bumper traffic.

One of my favorite pictures from the trip.

Her best beach buds this week were Jacie and Gage. Jacie was so sweet to play with her in the sand and swim with her and she crushed hard on Gage all week. When she wasn't wanting to put on her sunscreen in the mornings we would say "Do you want to go see Gage?". She obliged then :)

Fresh out of the ocean

On the last day we hung out at the pool for a while in the morning. I think she was missing just swimming since she swims almost everyday at home. Oh, and can you find Aunt Paigey?? HA!!

Paige and her best friend Sophie came down at the end of the week to join us. GGH especially enjoyed having some gal pals around to spoil her even more. Oh the spoiling that took place this week...:) She's a very loved little girl!

Last night at the beach, enjoying some seafood at Pompano Joe's. I had the Island Shrimp dinner (split it with Soph, it was a ton of food) and it was wonderful. I want to document this so I can remember it the next time I eat at a Joe's. I can never remember what I had at a restaurant, never!

We are home now and getting back into the swing of normal life. The trip home was much easier than the trip down. She slept over half of the way and was more content in her carseat. Mommy slept half the way too so it was a happy time for all :)

And just a fun collage to commemorate our trip. I have last years printed out and displayed on my desk so I will need to add this one to the collection.

What a difference exactly a year makes!

And I will end this post with one of my very favorite videos. My daredevil baby with her favorite guy-dimply smile and salt water sampling included :). Love her spunk!

I'm so thankful for a week of fun and rest at our happy place.

Memorial Day Weekend 2014

Sweet summertime is officially here! Even though we had already swam a few times Memorial Day is always the summer kickoff for me. Here's a bunch of pictures to represent what our long weekend looked like.

Our cousins from Indianapolis came down for the holiday and GGH had an instant best friend. They played so well together. We are looking forward to her next visit!

This weekend we met with an architect to design our house plans and did a little browsing for house materials. I think we're getting closer and closer to making decisions about the big things. My dreams for our family home are coming true!

Saturday was a pool day and the first pool day for the newest member to our group! Roman slept the whole time nearly so I think he found poolside to be enjoyable :)

This girl loves being at her Gammy's. Between the pool and golf cart trips around the course she stays highly entertained.
Saturday night I attended a bachelorette party for one of my best friend's Shira. It was such a fun night being with gal pals. Abby was a wonderful host and we found out the next day that they are expecting baby #2! Love this family so much.

Sunday we had nursery duty at church and got to check out the new courtyard playground. It is so nice! She had a ball along with her other nursery buddies.

She is getting to be such a big girl. Sigh.

Sunday night we were invited to three different Memorial Day cookouts but I wasn't feeling well so we just stayed home. Bummer. We let Georgia play in the yard after supper. As long as she is outside she doesn't care where she is :)

A funny from this weekend-our cousin Payton was talking about her and just said Georgia and after she finished talking GGH added "Grace" ha!
Yesterday Marcus went to the lake for fishing with the guys so I decided to work so I could take off at the end of the week before we leave for the beach Saturday. GGH spent the day with Ma, Grandmomma and Aunt Shanna. They had the best day and there's no doubt she's extra spoiled after this weekend :)

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I'm thankful for the ones who served like my Papaw Porter so we could have something to celebrate this weekend. God Bless America!
