Week Recap

I feel like I blinked and this week and the month of February was gone. We've had a good week of just doing normal things. We are still at our grandparent's house until our house is fully repaired which is on the agenda for this weekend. We decided while we were vacating the house to go ahead and do a remodeling project that needed to be done before we decide to put it on the market. That has delayed the move back home but we felt it was better to do it now than later. This is a big and exciting step towards the next chapter for my little family!

Thursday morning I got to play with little miss driver and her AKK friends. I was amazed at how well she played with the 2-5 year olds and participated in all the activities. She sure thinks those kids hung the moon and stars. I think she was aggravated about the morning commute in this picture :)

Thursday night we went to Rupp to watch the Cats play Arkansas. It had the potential to be an epic game but ended in disappointment. It's a hard year to be a Kentucky fan (per Kentucky standards) but I wouldn't want to cheer for any other team.

We had great seats on the top row of the lower section. Even though we weren't victorious I still enjoyed a night out with my Kentucky boy. Trips that are planned on a complete whim are the best!

Friday night we went to the 12th District Championship game. The tournament was in our town this year so we had to go give our support. Georgia Grace did a lot of clapping and bleacher wallering.

The Bears won! Back to back district champions and a trip to the Region 3 tournament as a #1 seed. It was an exciting game with a huge crowd. I'm proud of the tradition that's being established in our school system.

And just a little peek at what exactly we will be doing this weekend. I can't wait to see the finished project.

Happy Weekend! I'm off to catch some zzzzs before my alarm clock goes off way too early for a Saturday.

Storms & Sunshine

Lightning struck our house last Thursday and did some significant damage to our electricals. Consequently, we had to spend a good portion of our weekend cleaning and repairing. We have been living at Grandmomma and Granddad's house while our house is being mended. I'm just so thankful we have an electrician in the family and family nearby with plenty of space for extra company. And that the damage wasn't any worse and that we were not home when the storm hit.

Georgia Grace and Owen love it at their great-grandparents and we do too so it's been an enjoyable retreat. Not to mention we are going to be very spoiled by the time we head home without our maid :) They have ruined us no doubt.

Feeding her baby Friday afternoon. She dotes on her babydolls so much. I love that she loves babydolls.

Her favorite food for the week-corn
She loves for me to cut it off the cob for her and to eat a big cluster of the kernels. Whatever works baby girl!

Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous day. Of course we had to go play outside for a little while.

Sweet girl sliding. The breath of fresh air this day brought was therapeutic for all of us.

Did I tell you bath time was a hit now? Proof in the pruning :)

My brother was in town this weekend so went to church and lunch with him and his girlfriend Sarah on Sunday. He should find out in a month or so where he will be relocated. Fingers crossed it's Louisville or Nashville this time!

Happy Monday! This week has potential to be an awesome one!

Thursdays With Mommy

Per the usual I had the day off Thursday and the best part was that it was not a day of appointments, obligations or a to-do list. My daily planner had no writing in it for Thursday February 20th.

Those are the best Thursdays.

My girl and I slept in (10:15-what?!? The latest she's ever slept), waited for daddy to come visit us on his lunch break and then headed out for a little lunch and shopping date. I thought she was looking extra adorable with her new transition to spring outfit and another ponytail :)

It was a windy and warm day that did an excellent job of giving us spring fever. The afternoons of stroller rides and playing in the yard are close.

Our first stop was Qdoba to meet my sister and brother-in-law for lunch. They hadn't seen her ponytail in person or heard some of her new words so they were excited about all the newness. We just got a Qdoba close to us so I was glad to try it out for the first time. It was excellent as always.

Our next stop was some shopping at Duck Duck Goose. I have never shopped this consignment sale but other mommy friends were excited about it so I thought we would give it a try. It opened the day before so I could tell there wasn't as much merchandise but I found a few new pieces and added some hairbows to our collection.

I didn't take our stroller so after about five minutes GGH was ready to get down and roam. And that's exactly what she did. She was walking up and down the aisles and underneath the racks! When did she become old enough to do this?!

She is so big acting here lately. She said her first three word phrase this week:

"Dada go school"

Such a proud moment (especially for Marcus). And I also discovered she's cutting her top first molars. These milestones are coming so quickly.

And of course we had to stop at the grocery to shop for ingredients for supper. Georgia Grace doesn't get to go shopping much because I normally go after work but she really loves it. Riding in the cart is like a treat to her since it's such an infrequent thing. And she's always such a good girl and super observant.

And it looks like I have started a new tradition of taking her picture every time she grocery shops with me. October and November 2013 and February 2014. I plan on taking her picture here from now on since I mindlessly started doing this. I think it will be fun to look back at how much farther those little legs dangle!

Happy Weekend friends! I'm hoping this hint of spring weather sticks around.

#TBT Disney World 2012

Welcome to my first blog edition of "Throwback Thursday".

Social media has been all abuzz with #TBT pictures for some time now and I have felt inspired to do a blog version. I started blogging in August 2012 when I blogged about our summer vacation to HHi. There are so many big life events (wedding, Hawaiian honeymoon, NYC, Bahamas, NOLA) that occurred longer than 1 1/2 years ago that I want to document and quite honestly relive again in memory form. I think there's no surprise that my desire to look at beachy pictures with bronzed skin and sand between my toes comes at the end of the winter season as I'm longing for spring. No surprise at all.

My first #TBT blog post is dedicated to our most recent trip to Disney World. We went in January of 2012 as a Christmas gift from my mom and stepdad. My stepdad was running in the Walt Disney World Marathon and lucky us got to tag along for the ride.

Let me just say it right now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Disney. I was a total Disney girl growing up. We have probably every Disney classic in VHS and I still remember the day that our mall got a Disney Store like I remember 9/11/01. I've been to Disney World several times (including for my 16th birthday) and it never ever disappoints. I have to admit that one of the perks of motherhood in my opinion is having a reason to go back to WDW :)

We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort which was a great choice since our trip was short and we didn't have any other opportunity to go to a beach.

The resort had amazing pools and a water park to go along with the beach.

They also had their own food court and little grocery store. It was nice not having to leave the resort for our meals when we weren't at the park.

It was January and I could wear my swimsuit and a cover up. That is doing life right! :)

My beach bum husband

The first night we were still groggy from our air travels and decided to keep it low key and check out Downtown Disney.

We went the first week of January so everything was still decorated for Christmas! I've always wanted to see Disney at Christmastime but didn't want to sacrifice being away from all my family so this made me really happy.

We rode the Downtown Disney ferryboat which was a lot of fun. It was a little chilly at night so we were glad we packed our sweaters.

I can't even remember where we ate or if it was good but here's a picture from the restaurant :)

My brother Cody, Marcus, me, and my sister Paige headed to Magic Kingdom!

As I mentioned the Christmas decorations were still up in all the parks. The Christmas tree is HUGE and beautiful.

The kiddos with my momma. You're never too old for Disney.

This picture is a great example of how manageable the crowds were. If you try to take a castle picture in the summer months it's going to include about a million people's heads. I've heard that the 3rd week in January is the slowest week of the year. January is the month to go!

My absolute favorite! I love Peter Pan so much.

It's A Small World
Of course another crowd favorite. The lines were short so we got to ride every ride that we wanted to.

My second favorite thing in WDW is the Carousel of Progress. I know you probably think that's dull and homely of me to say but it is.  It is Americana at it's finest.

Marcus tried to spin us until we puked but we didn't so it was all good

This was about the average wait time for rides. Such a beautiful thing!

The castle from the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

I'm a sucker for a ride action shot :)

No caption needed. This just makes me all kinds of happy

Walt and Cinderella's Castle

And another castle picture because why not.

It's not a trip to Disney until you wear a pair of Minnie ears and pose for a picture.

We got our moneys worth at Magic Kingdom and stayed to watch the Disney Electrical Parade. Wow wow wow! It gives more amazing every year.

We ended our night with a ride on Dumbo. There weren't any lines at this point and we just walked right on. I definitely think we will be going in the off seasons when we go again. So much more enjoyable!

Our trip was just a long weekend so it was short but sweet. I absolutely love taking a winter vacation. It revives my soul and helps me get through the winter months until spring arrives.

And the man (and our cousin Dean on the left) that made it happen wearing their race medals! This was definitely one of my all-time favorite Christmas gifts.

This trip down memory lane really gets me excited for taking Georgia Grace. I can't wait for her to meet the characters, go to the Bippity Boppity Boutique and ride Peter Pan's Flight with me. The happiest place on earth truly lives up to its tagline.

That's a wrap for the first edition. I probably won't do a #TBT every week but I've got a pretty good list of things I want to put in blog form so we shall see. Thanks for following along!

Do You Hear What I Hear?

We took Georgia Grace to her follow-up appointment with the ENT yesterday. She has done remarkably well since her surgery and I was looking forward to this checkup so we could receive affirmation that everything was perfect.

Of course they had to take a look at her ears and baby girl just really hates that. Don't you wish there was a way to communicate to babies that things like that doesn't hurt? I do.

Once she realized that was all of the invasive part she was fine. She likes to add a little drama to our lives :) They did a hearing test where she went into a small room (daddy held her) and different sounds were used to see if she would show a response. She passed with flying colors! We can tell her hearing has improved since the procedure due to the fact that the vacuum that she once didn't pay much attention to now spooks her.

We checked out with a clean bill of health and orders to follow-up in a year unless we have issues before then. I'm so thankful for our healthy baby with new and improved ears!

In other exciting news, we received our information packet for Fitsum in the mail! We are going to write him a letter and send him a soccer ball to welcome him into our family :) I cannot wait to receive a letter back from him. I have already been blessed immensely from this journey that we embarked on just less than a week ago. I can only imagine the grace that is coming.

And if we are friends on Instagram or Facebook you have probably already seen this video but I couldn't leave it off the blog because I love it so much. She LOVES strolling her babies. Such the little mommy.
