Sweet Moments

How do the weeks go by so slow and the weekends so fast? We had another beautiful weekend in April, I hope this Spring is an indication of what kind of Summer we are going to have.

Saturday we attended the wedding of our family friend Justin. I helped his parents host their wedding shower last month and the sweet Young family mean so much to me. Their wedding was at Olde Stone and it was absolutely gorgeous. The wedding was outside and they couldn't have picked a better day for it.

I stole this picture from a Facebook friend-congratulations Justin & Randa! She was a beautiful bride and his sweet vows started the waterworks for me. I ALWAYS cry at weddings :)

The reception interrupted naptime so we improvised. She was just playing and talking to the people at the table and all of a sudden fell over asleep! Gammy's lap is one of her favorites for napping.

She was all dolled up for the wedding but had started to unravel when I got a picture of her ha! She is loving the barefeet life all of a sudden. She was such a good girl at the wedding and reception, I was so proud of her. She makes it easy to go places and attend events.

Saturday and Sunday morning I was treated to breakfast in bed! I love how my husband loves me. Owen was interested in what was on Mommy's tray. He eventually hopped up to check it out a little closer. I'm thankful for easy weekends we can spend doing the little things.

Which included this moment. She usually naps in her crib but I decided to just hold her Sunday afternoon while she napped. Those finger dimples, sweaty curls and Sunday naps on Mommy are my favorite things. Her head on my chest and fingers on my heart-there is nothing better. Babies don't keep.

Today is a big day as Roman Henry Ross will make his grand debut!! I can't wait to get to the hospital today, please say a prayer for a safe delivery and healthy baby! Happy early birthday sweet boy!

Blue Love

Was this weekend even real life?!?

If you don't know what I'm talking about then crawl out from under your rock because we are in the Final Four!!!

I still don't think it has set in that this team is two games away from a national championship. They play Wisconsin Saturday night and if we are victorious we will play Monday (winner of Florida & UConn) on my birthday!

The celebrations started early as Georgia Grace and some of her AKK buddies wore their UK blue to school on Friday. I'm glad she is surrounded by kiddos with such smart mommies and daddies ha!

We beat Louisville Friday night in an unbelievable game to advance to the Elite 8. You won't hear any Louisville bashing from me. I'm just happy to be part of BBN and the SEC-the best conference in the nation!

Saturday was a rainy, yucky day that was only good for a slow start with morning cuddles in our bed. This has become a weekend tradition for us and I look forward to it so much. I hope that the little things are etched in her memory just as much as the big things.

And I think it should be noted that she is totally still celebrating with her three goggles ha!

The slow morning gave way to a slow afternoon and a slow night. Georgia Grace spent some time with her grandparents for a little while on Saturday and I took some time for myself and started reading The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. I took the love language assessment pre-Mrs. status so I doubt it is accurate and will take it again once I am finished reading. I learned so much just from reading the first 50 pages. I know I say this all the time but the best gift we can give our children is a strong marriage full of grace and love and that is Christ-centered. I want to do anything I can to harvest that.

Sunday was a normal Sunday for us. We went to church and volunteered in the nursery and then we went to mamaw's for lunch.

I mentioned Friday that we are learning our animals and sounds so I couldn't wait to show Georgia Grace an actual cow on my grandparent's farm. She mooed at them and wasn't a bit scared.

We had a busy, excited girl this weekend so pictures didn't happen often but when they did she was on the move mostly. I had to document her UK attire (her UK squeakers came from Cracker Barrel). We went to James & Ashley's Sunday to watch the game. We are a rowdy crew and GGH got spooked a few times when a big roar would erupt so we went outside and played in their front yard a while. I went back in just in time to see the big Aaron Harrison "3" to seal the victory!

Final Four bound and headed to the big D!

And a BIG birthday shoutout to our fur baby who turns 5 today! I have no idea where the past five years with him has gone. I remember the day they brought him home. We drove to the dollar store for puppy food and he sat on Marcus' shoulder ha! He had huge paws as a pup so we knew he would be a big boy. Life has been 148204 times more fun with him along for the ride. Messier? Yes. Sometimes more stressful? Yes, but we take it all in stride and wouldn't trade it.

When you turn five you get a BGE grilled steak!

Happy Birthday sweet Owen! Or "O-wa" as your sister calls you. You have officially made me a dog person. We love you so much big boy!

Running Out Of Cute Snowy Titles

We are enjoying another winter wonderland scene in our neck of the woods this week. As beautiful as it is and as much as I love living in seasonal weather, I really hope this is our last snow for the season. Spring needs its turn :)

About 3 1/2 inches of snow and a 1/2-3/4 inch layer of ice underneath that. Not too shabby!

We couldn't let the opportunity to let Georgia Grace play in the snow get away from us. And she had a ball! Watching her little feet sink into the snow and waddle around in her snowsuit was the cutest. She really enjoyed playing in it and eating it.

Doggy brother Owen joined us for the snow party and ended up knocking her down with his tail from the excitement. And then while she was laying there he proceeded to give her some kisses in the snow. She didn't mind that.

My sweet snow angel (braced for doggy loves)

She got her first taste of snow balls and snow cream too. Loved them both. Look at that pucker from the cold!

I was able to stay home and enjoy a snow day with my favorite people so that was extra sweet. I don't mind the snow when it's enough that we are all snowed in :) It's suppose to warm up above freezing today and the snow should be gone by the weekend. And maybe just maybe Spring will arrive after that.

I'm thankful for our last little taste of winter and one more snow day with my baby. These days are special and fleeting and I'm savoring every second.

Five On Friday

Hello, Friday! TGIF! Here's my five pieces of random from this crazy week:

One
I had one of those Aha! moments this week and I thought I would share. We bought a new camcorder shortly after the birth of Georgia Grace. We had a Flip video camera that we had used for years and that we loved but it just suddenly stopped working on us. So we broke down and bought a nicer one. We have used it some but definitely not as much as we would like. It's just not in our routine to record videos so we just forget to do it. We have captured the big things-first Christmas, first Easter egg hunt, bathtime. But the day in day out stuff that we will really be interested to see (and laugh about how hideous we dressed and how fake we sound on camera) is missing.

So I came up with a concept that I'm calling "Film Fridays". All Film Friday consists of is recording a short video clip every Friday of whatever we want. Some Fridays might be very eventful, such as a vacation or birthday celebration, while other Fridays we will capture cooking dinner, playing in the yard, or even just Georgia Grace asleep in the crib if we forget to record until 11:59 that night ha!

Today is our first edition of Film Friday and I am excited about it. I am a habitual person by nature and if things aren't made part of my weekly routine they often do not get done. My goal with this project is to make it easy and simple to capture snapshots of our lives that we can look back on. I think it will be so neat to have a little piece of every Friday of our lives when we are old and gray. I'll try to share some still frames from our videos along the way.

Two

With a new school year back in swing I had to share this story about the teacher that wore the same outfit in his yearbook photos for 40 years (shoutout to my cousin Jan for posting it on twitter). Hysterical! I told Marcus he is only 3 years behind so he could jump on board and carry the torch for this man (who retired this year) but he wasn't interested. Hmph ;(

Three
While I was cooking dinner Tuesday these two had dinner plans of their own. I grabbed her before she got to the food but she did successfully get a hand in the water bowl. She also tried to get in Peanut's (my mom's cat) cat food this week. Never a dull moment folks, never!

Four
Today marks the very last day that I will be using the contraption pictured above. After nine months of daily sessions my pumping days are over!!! I had meant to stop sooner than now but it was never convenient to stop and I liked being able to give her fresh milk every morning. Unless one of the deep freezes goes out we should have PLENTY of breastmilk to get her to her first birthday (and beyond)! I am so grateful for the gift of breastfeeding that I have been able to provide for our my daughter for 12+ months. This has been a blessing for our whole family! You can read more about my breastfeeding adventure here. So buh-bye breast pump, Daisy Mae is retired! :)

Five
After a trip back to the doctor on Wednesday Georgia Grace was diagnosed with a double ear infection. She was resistant to the first antibiotic so she will be on another antibiotic for ten days. She received a rocephin shot in the office and by yesterday she had no fever and her drainage was gone! I want nothing more than my baby to be healthy again and we are almost there! But when it rains it pours, right?  Marcus came home from school yesterday feeling miserable. His allergies are intense and they were the worst ever. He got home at 4pm and never left the bed until this morning. What wonderful timing!! But there is never a good time to be sick.

Happy weekend, y'all! I'll be at home taking care of the sick but there's no other place I would rather be.

Weekend

We had an uneventful weekend at the Harrison homeplace. I really can't even remember much about it so it's a good thing I snapped a few pictures.

Georgia Grace is still not feeling well. She has been on an antibiotic for 5 days now. She had a 100.0 temperature yesterday and 99.5 this morning.  I called her pediatrician this morning and they want to continue with the current antibiotic dosage and presribed an antihistamine for her drainage.  If she's not better by the end of the week he wants us to bring her in. I'm diligently praying this will not have to happen. Two weeks of being on again off again with sickness is no fun at all. I'm thankful she's typically a very healthy baby and my heart goes out to the babies and mommies who have to deal with sickness on a regular basis.

As I mentioned it's been a roller coaster with how she feels. She will act perfectly normal for a few days and then she will start feeling bad again. Friday night she was feeling so well (thank you children's advil) she decided to demolition her nursery! How old do they have to be before they start cleaning up their own messes?!? Ha!

My smiley baby Saturday afternoon after naptime. She has on a swimsuit cover-up that my dad gave her as a souveneir from their beach trip to Tybee Island. My cousin Payton came over Saturday to play with her for a while and when I went outside to hang up some clothes they came out to show me the outfit Georgia Grace had "picked out". Payt said she picked it up and waved it at her and just got all excited so she put it on her and she just squealed with excitement! It has tassles on the bottom she kept chewing and stepping on so it was quite a sight. We had fun watching her in her favorite tassle number! :)

Owen enjoyed us being home with him this weekend. He is such a good doggy brother and gets up with us when we have to get up with Georgia Grace at night. He typically sleeps in our bedroom but I've caught him in the nursery a few times this week. He can totally tell when something is wrong. I'm thankful for his commaderie and protection for his little sister.

Sunday we had nursery duty at church (Georgia Grace was feeling fine Sunday morning so we decided to go ahead and go). With a 3:1 boy:girl ratio (9 kiddos total) Mr. Marcus was a main attraction. We had our hands full but we are glad we can serve our church in this capacity. God always knows when it is fitting for us be in this environment. These children are a blessing from God.

Sunday Georgia Grace and I attended a baby shower for our neighbor and Marcus's colleague Holly. She is due with baby Jaycee Camille in September and this is the basket I made for her. I used some "pinspiration" and my girl mom style to assemble and arrange it. We can't wait to meet the newest addition to the neighborhood!
Even through all the yuckiness my baby girl still manages to look pretty as a picture. She's my little porcelain doll! I never tire of loving on this sweet child of mine.

I hope this is the last time I blog about sickness for a LONG time. Here's to a better week and a healthy baby!
