Happy 4th Birthday Owen!

Our doggy baby turns 4 years old today!!

Owen came from LC Kennels in Russell Springs, Kentucky (we get asked frequently who bred him and where they are from so I wanted to post the link in case anyone is interested in getting a goldendoodle pup)
(**However it does look like all of the doodles are gone but I'm sure there will be more in the future).

Owen was a "Christmas" present to Marcus from Gram and Granddad. Marcus brought him home in May of 2009 when he was about 6 weeks old. Cute doesn't even begin to describe it!! It was love at first sight.

He is just the best dog. He is energetic, fun, and so loving. Sometimes we wonder if he ever outgrew his puppy stage with the energy he has ha! He has been wonderful to Georgia and we are so thankful for that. I can't imagine a more perfect family dog for us. Grandma and grandpa Harrison got her the "I <3 my goldendoodle" shirt for Easter/Owen's birthday--it's perfect!!

Poor Owen has what we think is a flea bite that he has dug at and it has caused a small wound on his belly area. We've had to keep a tshirt on him to keep him from messing with the spot. Good news is he was feeling better tonight and was more playful! I took this picture last night before I went to bed. Just melts my heart.

We love you Owen Theodore Harrison! Happy 4th Birthday (or 28th--I prefer 4, he's way too spunky for a 28 year old ha!)

(And Happy Easter! Will do another post this week. We have had an eventful week!)

Georgia is 5 Months Old!

Georgia-you are FIVE months old today!

Here's what you have been up to lately:

  • I am guessing you to be between 14-15 pounds and 24-25ish inches long. You can still wear some 3-6 month outfits but you are mostly in 6 month clothing. You are wearing a size 2 diaper.
  • Your eyes remain blue but there are specks of brown in the center. Still waiting to see what their true color will be!
  • Your hair has gotten so LONG! Sometimes through the day we will clip it back with a small alligator clip bow just to keep it out of your eyes ha! It is still dark (keeping my fingers crossed) and kinks up curly when it's wet. You do have a slight bald spot on the back of your head where you have wore your hair off some.
  • You continue to sleep through the night (yay!!!) with 3-4 short 30 minute naps through the day (I will totally trade long naps for a full nights rest). Every blue moon you will wake up during the night but a quick feeding or just your paci will send you right back to sleep within 10-15 minutes. If you wake up it's typically 11pm-1am.

  • You are eating 5-6 oz of breastmilk usually 5-6 times per day. You are still only eating breastmilk and rice cereal but you are really starting to pay attention when mommy and daddy are eating. You watch the utensil from the plate to our mouth ha! Baby food is in our near future.
  • You love to be talked to and sung to. I only sing to you when no one else is around because I am horrible! But it makes my heart happy that you appreciate it :)

  • You are a rolling machine. You are all over the living room. We will lay you down on a blanket and within a minute you are on the rug, hardwoods, under the coffee table, etc. You hold your head up when you are on your belly and I feel like if you were a little stronger you would be crawling. You already "slide" yourself around.
  • No teeth yet. You have shown signs of teething but we aren't sure if we are just confusing that with normal baby symptoms?!?
  • You have really taken an interest in Owen. You will just watch him and reach your hand out to feel his fur. He enjoys the attention you give him!
  • You enjoy your bumbo, swing (sometimes), basketball goal, activity mat, and mommy and daddy's phones ha! You like anything with bells and whistles.
  • You love to put your toes in your mouth and you love to be naked! If we just let you go in only your diaper you are totally fine with that.
  • You met Aunt Kay's Kids this month which was very exciting for everyone! They have all been anxious to meet you. You even went to your first "show and tell" last week and you showed a Minnie rattle that was Aunt Shanna's. The kids love you and ALL babies are "baby Georgia" or "baby Grace" ha! So sweet.
We made our wonderful announcement that you were on the way this time last year and now here we are with a healthy, beautiful, full of life 5 month old baby girl!
Happy 5 months to our sweet Georgia peach!

Toys For My Tot

We have reached the stage where Georgia is not content with just sitting or swinging or rolling. This girl wants some action! I am so happy she is curious and wanting to see and do things but gosh I wasn't ready. Where did my tiny baby go? :(

So I have been on a mission to find some age appropriate toys for her. She loves books so we have those that we read every night. We have an activity mat that she enjoys but she is such a busy body she usually rolls out of it in about 5 minutes ha!

She loves her baby dolls and other plush toys but they only hold her attention for so long. Same goes for her rattles-she's like, "BORING".

My mom bought her this basketball goal at a yard sale last summer and she had planned on her using it at her house but she has enjoyed it so much we brought it home with us. Besides Owen, this is her favorite toy. :)

I found these toys today along with a jumperoo that we are going to try. It's such a trial and error thing. And most toys are 6 months+ or 12 months+. Hopefully these will do the trick! I am on the lookout for an exersaucer. I think that's our next big adventure. I'm hoping the weather will warm up very soon and we can start strolling and playing outside.

We have a BIG weekend ahead of us: GGH will be 5 months old, Owen turns 4, and Easter! I am looking forward to all of the festivities!

Spring Snow and Baby Marley

Happy Spring! We woke up this morning to about 3/4" of snow on the ground. And it snowed on and off all day. Our church's easter egg hunt is next Saturday. I hope we aren't hunting them under the snow!

Thursday night Marcus' parents took us out for dinner and I took this picture of my baby when we got home. It is my new favorite. I could just eat her up! And yes she is as sweet as she looks! She is always so pleasant.

Sunday we went to our future cousin Marley's baby shower. We are so excited for the new addition to the family. And Georgia is ready for some girlfriends since all of our baby friends/cousins are boys ha!

Tad and Stacy opening all their many gifts! I meant to take more pictures but a certain little someone was distracting me. Stacy and I have been friends since we were kids and my cousin Tad moved back home when we were in 7th grade so we were able to grow up together. I still remember his first day of school here in Kentucky. I was so nervous for him ha! I'm glad Georgia and Marley will be buddies. They got so many neat things! Marley is a blessed little girl!

Georgia Grace got to meet Hudson for the first time at the shower. They were so funny! They would reach for each other and even held hands :). He is such a pretty baby boy!

Hudson's mommy and daddy are friends of ours and we have joked about them dating someday. The only stipulation is that Georgia drives on their dates HA! I hope Hudson doesn't inherit the poor driving gene from his daddy (and uncle)!

I wanted to share this video Gram took of Georgia the day she first started putting her feet in her mouth. She hasn't slowed down since! Her giggle just melts my heart. Enjoy!

Random March Pictures

This is just a fun post to include some of the memorable pictures I've taken this month. I honestly have no idea where this month has gone, it seems like we were just getting started!

Happy happy happy girl! :) (I think we were actually watching Duck Dynasty when Paige took this ha!)

AKK couldn't leave the baby out of celebrating Dr. Seuss' Birthday! She loves being included.

Georgia loves her doggy friends! This is Sadie, Gram's dog. She is big time after them these days. She goes right for their hair or nose. They are all sweet to just let her do what she wants to do!

My bright-eyed girl<3

And this was daddy multitasking today ha! Anytime we are in the floor with Georgia, Owen thinks it is playtime for him too. Marcus is always good about including him. This is pretty much what our Saturday looked like and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Thankful for days just like this.

Bunny Foo Foo

I love everything about Easter. It is the "super bowl of christianity" and a time to reflect on the resurrection. My goal is to always make the true meaning of each holiday the focus with my family.

But I think it's ok to have some fun with it too! I dressed Georgia Grace up in her bunny foo foo outfit this weekend. She's my little dress up doll! I love her so much!!!

I know she's mine and I'm biased, but I can't get over how beautiful she is.

But I caught her not abiding by the "beauty is as beauty does" rule ha! Saturday I was in the kitchen and heard a loud "toot". I assumed it was Marcus until he said, "She just did that!"
I go in the living room and I find this. What a mess!! So mischievous and funny already. Is it too early to teach manners?!?
Big accomplishment for the week-we can put our toes in our mouth! Tuesday morning Gram sent me the sweetest video of her sucking on her toes. She would tickle herself with them and just start cackle laughing. She is obsessed with them. It is so funny to watch!

I am looking forward to a restful and relaxing day at home tomorrow with my baby.<3

St Patty's Day

Since St. Patrick's Day fell on a Sunday, we celebrated through the week with little fun events. AKK goes all out for the holiday and of course Georgia Grace got to participate! :)

Last Monday night Gram fixed us a traditional St. Patricks Day dinner. Including clover shaped butter. Clover. Shaped. Butter! This detail oriented gal was in heaven! And it was all so yummy.

The littlest leprachaun! I think this picture is absolutely precious.

Every year a naughty leprachaun visits AKK and plays tricks on the kiddos. Green milk, green toilet water, leprachaun footprints---you name it, he has done it! This year one of his tricks was putting a clover on GGH! The kids went wild when they saw this!

To avoid the pinching Georgia Grace wore this knot dress that I made her to church Sunday. It is still so cold here so we had to pair it with tights but they actually matched well.

I am pretty proud of this dress. I found a free pattern and the fabric is from Walmart. I may have to make her a few bigger ones for this summer!

Holidays are so much more fun with a child. <3

SEC Letdown

Well I wasn't sure if I would find time this weekend to post about our trip to Nashville for the SEC tournament. HA! I have found time considering we are sitting at home :(. Mamaw got us the whole book of tickets but since UK got knocked out in the first game, we decided to watch the rest from home.

We went down Friday for both sessions. It was just Marcus and me (Grandma and Grandpa kept GGH for us-thank you!) and we had plans to bring Georgia Saturday and then stay all night for the championship game Sunday. Unfortunately Georgia's first UK game will have to wait until next season. On the bright side her first game will be at Rupp.

We were still happy at this point because the game had not started ha! I would be lying if I said the game was not depressing. We just played flat out bad. And it looks like we are NIT bound. Sheesh!

We made the most of Friday and did some fun things between the sessions. We went to Wildhorse which was a sea of blue! And I got my picture made with Elvis so the day wasn't a total wash. :)

Thank you mamaw for our SEC tickets!! We've decided that the first check these players receive once they make it to the NBA should be divided amongst all the UK fans that bought SEC tickets.

 I kid.

You win some and you lose some. We have won our fair share so we were due a down year. But that is a hard pill for the BBN to swallow! We still bleed blue. We will get 'em next year!

Daddy's iPhone Pics

Here are some pictures of our girl (and boy) that I uploaded from Marcus' phone. I love looking at the ones he has snapped without me knowing :)

This was at the pediatrician's office last week (pre-shots). Love those little fat rolls!

Brother and sister. <3

Even though Owen may not make the blog as often as his sister, we still love him very much! I think he is happy to share the spotlight with Georgia Grace. I have been asked several times if I would recommend a goldendoodle for a family with kids and the answer is YES.

Hahaha!

We are heading out for Nashville tomorrow for the SEC tournament!!! I am major pumped! I will try to post an update sometime this weekend. Go Cats!!

Bible Study Rebel and #1

I look forward to Tuesday nights because that is the night we have Bible Study. We just finished up the Gospel Project series which has been wonderful. We are debating on what book to study next and we are praying that our group will expand. If you are local and interested in joining us contact me! We would love to have you!

Marcus led Bible Study tonight and Georgia Grace decided she was going to try to steal the attention. Daddy finally kicked us out! Yup, we were ostracized to the nursery for the rest of the night ha! I can confidently say our girl is back 110%! :)

Also, someone forgot to fill me in on the fact that babies do not adjust to the daylight savings time. Or at least mine didn't. I'm not complaining though, I enjoyed the extra hour or rocking and cuddling last night :)

So some of my family and friends have started noticing something Georgia does and now that I have looked back there is definitely a trend. She thinks she is #1!! Look at all these pictures where she is throwing up the #1 sign! I think there are more but these are the ones I could come up with for the collage. Crack. Me. Up. Nothing like a good positive attitude! :) Although I may have to teach her a lesson on humility someday ha!

I have spring fever bad. I am ready to shed the coats and pull out my summer wardrobe. We have had such a mild winter and I am thankful for that. March is kind of a strange month--Is it still winter? The beginning of spring? Nobody really knows. My dad has always told me to enjoy the "season" and to not always look to the future so that's what I'll try to do. It will get here soon enough!

Lately

Well we are 4 days post shots and baby girl still isn't acting like her normal bubbly self. She has been fussy and hasn't been eating well. It has gotten a little better each day but I can still tell she is not 100%. These vaccinations are for the birds! She stopped running a fever Friday and she has been laughing some today so hopefully we are close to having this behind us. Shew!

Even though she hasn't been feeling well she is full of energy. I put her in her crib to play the other morning while I did stuff in her nursery and she "monkeyed around" and ended up in this position ha! She is such a little wiggleworm. Just like her daddy.

Friday night we went and ate at Mellow Mushroom. Georgia Grace loved all the stimulation! It was almost stimulation overload though. Aunt Paigey met us there so that was an unexpected treat getting to see her!

I realized that I hadn't had a picture with my big girl in a while so mom took this one of us today. Mom and Stan kept her for a little while this afternoon and they took her on her first Hidden Valley Golf Course experience! I think they have found a golf cart buddy for this summer :)

I hate to wish time away but I am ready to get this work week behind us because we are Nashville bound for the SEC tournament!! We were pretty down about how the tournament might go until yesterday--wow!! What a great game! I felt proud to be a Cats fan.

Go Big Blue!

Ouch!

Yesterday we took Georgia for her 4 month well baby checkup. Daddy got to come this time and was excited about it until he remembered that there would be shots involved.

The shots. Oh, the shots. This face pretty much sums it up.

Bless her little heart she was not a happy camper. Our 2 month vaccinations went well but I was afraid this time since she is older and has a better memory that she wouldn't take them as well. And mommy was right. It broke our heart to see her in pain.

And she has been symptomatic today. She's ran a low grade fever and was fussy and lethargic this morning. There's been lots of cuddling and kisses today!

She was 13.3 pounds (40th percentile) and 23 3/4 inches (35th percentile). Her pediatrician said she was proportional and growing just like she should be!

He was pleased with her rolling skills and sleeping through the night. He said she has met or is ahead in all of her developmental milestones. There was a silver lining to the checkup hearing this!

Currently her temp is down to 99.3 and she woke up from her nap smiling-yay! She's still not her normal self but I'm so happy her temp is coming down. She has been pretty pitiful. I'm praying we wake up tomorrow with a normal temperature and a happy baby!

AKK Official

Today was a big day for Georgia Grace. She met the AKK preschool group! Normally Gram keeps Georgia in her nursery through the day and the other kids are in the basement so this was a big deal!

The kids have been sooooo eager to meet GGH and they ask about her daily. They are such sweethearts and love her so much. They have a daily prayer and a lot of them will pray for her. When they play house, one of them will be Georgia, me, Marcus, Shanna, etc. Cracks me up!

Here is Georgia and Grandma Harrison with Eli, Ann Marie, Ellis, Emma, Mia, Cardyn, Aiden, Erica, Konner, Kypton, Chandler, and Raeleigh! This picture radiates excitement :) Shannon said that they introduced each one to her and she would just look at them and smile. I am so glad their first interaction went so well!

Aunt Alice made her this AKK logo onesie for Christmas. I couldn't wait for her to wear it!

She will start visiting them on a daily basis on the days she is staying with Gram and then when she turns 2 she can officially join them (I am in no hurry for that one)! I am so thankful that she will get to be around these kiddos and watch and learn from them.

Tomorrow is our 4 month well baby check-up. I'm praying for a clean bill of health and minimal tears...we will see!
