Five On Friday

The week following a vacation is always a toughy. We've had a lot on our plate this week so I'm extra glad to see the Friday date (even if it is the 13th). And I'm even more glad it's the weekend because we get to celebrate the dads and we will be do so accordingly on the lake! We can't get enough of the liquid stuff :)

Here is our week recapped into five things-

One
The week started on a bad foot for my Georgia Grace. We noticed her eyes were red when we were coming home from the beach but associated it to tiredness and sun/water. When they remained red and irritated through the weekend we called her pediatrician to get her seen about. Poor baby has conjunctivitis :(. Treatment is just eye drops and no antibiotics, that's a silver lining. Another silver lining is she was much less anxious this appointment than at her 18 month check-up (vomit on the pediatrician's shoe-remember?) Her eyes are improving, I'm hoping they will be all clear by the weekend!

Two
I posted this on IG and Facebook to see if it was just me or if there is a resemblance between my daughter and the Olsen twins. I think we are all in agreement these two favor! My Mom says all of those episodes of Full House we watched rubbed off on my first born ha! I was (still am) crazy about Full House. Anything Mary-Kate and Ashley really. I belonged to their fan club, bought every VHS and book with their face on it and wanted to go to San Fran just to see the Full House house ha! I don't mind this similarity one bit :)

Three
My charming, dainty daughter has a new frequently used word--"pooie". Pooie equals either a toot or the real thing. She always lets us know when she does something down there and doesn't care who she is around or where we are at when she makes the announcement. She even uses it in past tense- "I pooied". You have to appreciate her expanding vocabulary. Hey at least she owns it!

Four
Our church's VBS has been going on all this week and my Mamaw took Georgia Grace with her today. She must have been a sleepy girl because the two pictures I got from friends she has her eyes closed in both. She had the best time! Somehow she moved up to the 5th grade girls class (bet cousin Payton has something to do with that...) and already knows the dance to the theme song. VBS is the best!

Five
Tonight we are meeting with our architect for our first set of revisions to our house plan. We hope to have the plans finished and finalized by the end of this month if all goes as planned. I've been looking at interest rates (hello--so low!!) and making financial plans this week in preparation for our much anticipated ground breaking. Ready or not this train is rolling! Hope I can hang on.

Happy Friday y'all!

Easter 2014

I wasn't crazy about Easter being so late this year but if it means we get warm weather I am all for it! It was perfect. We spent lots of time outside and slowed down a bit. It was much needed and felt like a reward for surviving our cruel winter.

We kicked off Easter weekend by getting to pet a real bunny! Our neighbors just so happened to have new bunnies and were outside with them. They were precious!! Georgia Grace got a big kick out of them. There was a lot of squealing and petting going on.

Saturday was our Easter egg hunt at church. She found 8 and was very proud of herself. She was the last one in the field. She was very thorough with her hunting :)

The Easter Bunny came and left GGH a basket of goodies beside her crib. She spotted it first thing and opened it up immediately. We kept it small and simple. She loved it just the same!

Easter 2014
These two complete me.

Easter 2013-I love to compare year to year.

My southern belle in her Easter frock. This is one of my favorite days to be a girl mom. Bonnets and smocking and T-straped leather shoes are the key to my mommy heart.

We went to Mamaw Carolyn's for an Easter lunch and a mini egg hunt just for our Georgia Grace. She loved climbing the steps and I had to snap a picture of her bunny bloomers.

I'm not even sure what she was doing in this picture but that expression is priceless! She is such a live wire.

Easter (& turkey hunting) are hard on my man

What a difference a year makes! Days like today make me wish I could freeze time.

Hope you and yours had a great Easter weekend!

Celebrate Good Times

That's right. We had a wonderful weekend full of celebrations of all kinds. Family, sports, babies-it was 48 hours filled with excitement.

On Saturday morning we went to visit some of our extended family. We visited Great Aunt Georgia "Nell", Great Aunt Gladean, and Great Uncle Bubby and Aunt Joyce. It is always a blessing getting to visit with them. Our next stop was to Meme's but nap time interferred so we will have to reschedule that one for next weekend.

One of the highlights of the trip was the stair chair lift at Uncle Bubby and Aunt Joyce's house. Of course Georgia Grace had to ride and I had never rode one myself so I was equally excited. It doesn't take much to entertain us!

And then she insisted on riding again with Aunt Joyce :) Such a sweet picture I will always cherish.

Before we left my Aunt Joyce had two quilts and a baby pillow that she wanted to give me. These were baby items they used for their only son Timmy. They lost Timmy when he was a teenager in a car accident. She told me she knew she would never have grandchildren to give it to so she wanted me to have them.

She will never know how much these pieces mean to me. I am honored that she entrusted me to have them and that my babies will get to use pieces that represent the Porter family. The blue one was made my by Great Aunt Loyce and the patchwork quilt was made by my Great Grandmother Porter. As you can see they are "used" but I think that only adds to their worth.

Georgia Grace's crib has never looked so beautiful :) I am so thankful for all our heirlooms.
Sunday was Georgia Grace's Baby Day at church. This is an event they have every three years to celebrate and honor all the little ones. I was so proud of my baby for walking down the aisle like a big girl. Once we were standing at the front of the church she spotted and hollered "Papaw". She is super observant!

Several of our family members came to our church for the special occasion. GGH traveled from our pew to her Ma and Pa's seats several times throughout the course of the service!

Gammy, Gran Stan and Mamaw Carolyn also came to ABC. She was so excited when she saw them walk in the door.

Sunday afternoon I helped host a baby shower for one of my best friend's Rachel. It was such a fun shower to plan and be a part of! We gifted Roman his Pottery Barn Anywhere Chair but unfortunately it is backordered until April 22nd. I'm just hoping it arrives before he makes his arrival! I love these people so much and can't wait to experience parenthood with them.

This little girl had a big time playing with all the boys at the party. She is surrounded by boys and doesn't care one bit. Ace couldn't wait to show her his baseball and Abbott was a little ham. We are blessed with sweet baby friends!

UK took down top-seeded Wichita State in a thriller in St. Louis on Sunday, 78-76. (Chet White, UK Athletics)
And the most thrilling, stroke inducing part of the weekend was watching UK beat the overall #1 seed and undefeated Wichita State to advance to the Sweet 16!!! After a regular season of underperforming, it looks like we might be peaking at the right time. My brother lives in Wichita and wore a Kentucky shirt to the gym just to be ornery ha! I'm glad he didn't have to eat crow.

Friday night it's another battle of the bluegrass as we play Louisville for a ticket to the elite eight. I hope my nerves can handle it!!
