Fort Morgan June 2021

A little bit of procrastination and a little bit of luck led us to our summer beach destination of Fort Morgan, Alabama. Everything was pretty much booked in OBA when we got around to planning our trip and travel was high after a year of covid shutdowns. We decided to take a chance and try a new area!

We had groceries delivered to our room which was amazing in itself because I had never done that before for vacation, and low and behold if the sweet girl didn’t put them up for us as well. I can promise you as good as a time as we had, none of the rest of these pictures meant as much to me as this one ha!

It was late when we arrived on our first day so me and brother took a walk to get his first experience. He wasn’t overly amused, a little skeptical but definitely curious about what was to come!

Baby bed sharing

Our beach week consisted of a lot of this. It was just the five of us so a lot of beach naps took place.

A lot of this happened too :) He was such a good boy who rolled with the punches.

Beachy cuties

We preferred our laps over the sand so this is where he spent most of his time

Oh, and here too :) His favorite spot!

Yup definitely his favorite spot :)

His first morning waking up to the ocean and he wasn’t mad about it

Neither was this girl!

He wasn’t a big fan of wearing his sun hat so he had to stay under the umbrella mostly

Boardwalk boys at Tacky Jack’s

When we got back to our resort after dinner this night, Jack wanted a sno cone from the food trucks so he and I took a little mother son adventure. This is a night I’ll never forget. For the first time I noticed something was a little off with him and he just didn’t look quite right.

This picture tells it all. His left eye was starting to turn in. We knew he was farsighted from his kindergarten screening but Dr. Todd told us it wasn’t severe enough to treat yet and to just monitor. It seemed the elements of the beach, looking at the horizon, etc. caused an accelerated decline in the strength of his left eye. I called our doctor and he gave me instructions on things to do until we got home and that he would see him in his office as soon as we were back in town.

So the rest of the week he sported sunglasses when we were outside. It didn’t seem to bother him and when his eye would want to turn him, he would tell us I can see my nose. Bless it.

More to come on Jack’s eye journey!

Back to beach fun-more chair climbing and crawling all over mom and dad for this boy

I gave him a sink bath and thought how awesome of a picture this will be! The whole experience wasn’t near as awesome as I had planned. He is NOT a fan of bath time.

Dinner with a view (Sea N Suds)

A shrimp eating contest going down

Followed by an ice cream treat at Matt’s!

To cap off the evening, we saw a gator on our drive back to the resort! He was in a small pond on our resort’s property.

Of course Jack wanted a picture with him

We tried to get a few family pictures at the beach and this was the best we could do. It’s not perfect but neither are we, I think it captures us well!

Another attempt-Jack off of the frame, John pulling Georgia’s hair, my nursing bra showing

Last attempt-jack still out of the frame, John had moved on to my hair and more nursing bra explicits.

Big boy was done with pictures but I still love this picture <3

They love to night swim while we’re at the beach

Vacation makes these two guys happy!

It makes all of us happy :) Even though we stayed in Fort Morgan, we ventured over to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach for dinner a few nights. The Gulf is always a fun experience.

Oh hi trashcan, thanks for the photo bomb

We took the kids for their first putt putt golf experience. They may have loved this just as much as the whole beach trip combined.

It was a lot of fun and of course got a little competitive.

Multi-tasking dad…

And multi-tasking mom because we didn’t have enough room to pack his stroller. You make do!

Our last beach day. Sweet bug sibs.

And sweet J boys

Daddy didn’t get left out of the beach nap snuggles

Baywatch, you can’t have her!

Our last dinner at the beach-takeout seafood we ate on the balcony. A perfect end to the week.

A few memories we captured and with Georgia’s Fujimax she received for Christmas

Model boy enjoying his sno cone with dad one night

Ripping off mom’s hat was a fun game we played all week

Another annual summer beach trip in the books. It’s not restful and at times it’s stressful, but the memories are worth it. We won’t get this time back. We plan to take the trips and make the memories!
